Ah! That's my confusion. For some reason I though the city of Porto (hence the name 'Port') was in Spain.

Like ray mentioned the term "champagne" can only be used when the sparkling wine is from the Champagne region of France.

Otherwise, it is just labelled as sparkling wine and most often much less expensive than the French ones.
