$1:
Did Prime Minister Justin Trudeau say that Canada has no history of colonialism? Yes and no.

Literally.

In an article on the National Observer website about Trudeau's visit to New York University in New York City on Thursday, he was quoted talking about Canada's ability to offer support for UN peacekeeping missions "without some of the baggage that so many other Western countries have — either colonial pasts or perceptions of American imperialism."

The quote raised a lot of eyebrows online — especially among Indigenous peoples — who took to social media to express their outrage.

Interesting comment.

Yes and no is correct. There is certainly a history of British and French colonialism within Canada, but Canada has never colonized another country or played the imperialism/hegemony game like the US or Britain or France or Germany or Holland etc. And that's the point I think he was getting at.

Yes but you are requiring people to actually think about the comment.

It's far easier to just jump to a childish conclusion, and then head for Twatter.

I could care less what he said about Canada's alleged colonialism and much more about his apparent intent to get us fully involved again with peacekeeping. It was a failed concept with a couple of successes here and there (Cyprus, Sinai) and a whole bunch of miserable failures (Yugoslavia, Rwanda). In the world now it's no longer semi-sane Marxist insurrectionists or local nationalists that need to be buffered from killing civilians. It's the likes of Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, or ISIS who'd love to see blue helmets enter the field so they can kidnap and behead them. Sending peacekeepers out is just going to get a lot of these men killed. If this is what Trudeau wants to happen, because daddy was a big wig in peacekeeping's "golden age" in the 1970's then JT is more than just being stupid. He's actively delusional and deliberately ignoring what the situation is out there now. How many Canadian soldiers are going to end up paying the price, and not in battle either where they can give as good as they get but in miserable torture-first decapitation-later instances, just so Liberals can do more of their insipid strutting?

Peacekeeping is a dream and as you said has no place in today's World when dealing with Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, ISIS or not the next fan boys trying to make a name for themselves who would love to get their hands on Western Peacekeepers. God Help Us!

Justin Trudeau is an idiot, plain and simple. This is the same guy who's experience for running a country is teaching snowboarding and bouncing people from clubs. Seems 'Complete Ignorance Towards History' is another piece of experience required for the PM job now.
