Alta_redneck Alta_redneck: If you ever looked up classless, I’m sure you’d see a picture of those 2 American girls she was sandwiched between. There’s waving the flag and then there’s rubbing it in your opponent’s face. We actually commented on that before the medals were handed out. That one (the one that won bronze) needs some serious etiquette classes. I was sure proud of our 3 women though. They all did fantastic and were class acts from start to heartbreaking finish.

During the musical chairs when the top 3 spots were still to be decided, . Did you notice that the eventual bronze girl told our girl to remove her skis from the number one chair before she would accept the traditional hug.

Groves wins speedskating bronze $1: Kristina Groves won Canada's first Olympic speedskating medal at the Vancouver Games, capturing bronze on Sunday in the women's 3,000 metres.
The Ottawa native won her second career individual Olympic medal and third overall. Groves finished in four minutes 4.82 seconds.
Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic set a track record of 4:02.53 at the Richmond Olympic Oval to capture gold.
Stephanie Beckert of Germany was matched with Groves in the marquee pairing, overtaking the Canadian down the stretch to win silver in 4:04.62.
The second last pair, Beckert and Groves waited anxiously as Torino gold medallist Ireen Wust of the Netherlands competed with Germany's Daniela Anschutz Thoms.
"It was great," said Groves. "Honestly at the end of that race, I was really happy with how I skated, but I didn't think it was going to hold up at the last pair. I thought they'd beat me. It was a great and wonderful surprise for me that my time stood up."
Anschutz Thoms came in fourth, with Wust seventh.
Winnipeg natives Clara Hughes and Cindy Klassen were fifth and 14th, respectively.
Groves had won gold and silver at the distance over the last two world championships, and is also a strong contender for distances later in the Games. The 33-year-old will compete four more times.
"I obviously wanted the best race possible today and I think I did that," she said. "So it was a little nerve-wracking to watch [the last pair], but that's OK — it was only a couple of minutes."
Canadian flag-bearer Hughes, who took gold in the 5,000 in Torino, kept pushing during her pairing with Maren Haugli of Norway. The 37-year-old, who now lives in Glen Sutton, Que., crossed the line in 4:06.01.

Never saw anybody so happy to win the bronze. It was an unexpected medal, for her too. Congrats Kristina.

Maybe a little to fast off the start, maybe a little to excited. We'll take it.

blvd88 blvd88: Ce soir ! L'Armée de l'Air du Québec balayera le podiume dans des nababs de mens. Hey is this for the best finish by a Canadian ever, in the mens 7.5 km biathlon. Thought I better go and check that out and I was wrong, it was the 10 km. Well done. $1: Le Guellec finishes sixth in 10km sprint
A rainy and snowy day on the biathlon course yielded some surprising results in the men's biathlon 10km sprint.
One of the biggest of those surprises came from the lone Canadian in the field.
With his family cheering him on, Jean-Philippe Le Guellec set a Canadian men's Olympic record by finishing in sixth place. Le Guellec, ranked 33rd in the World Cup standings, finished the course in a time of 24:57.6.
Steve Cyr held the previous record with an eighth place finish in the Sprint event in Albertville, France in 1992.
"I'm really happy," Le Guellec said following the race. "I feel awesome. I stayed relaxed, I shot clean, I shot fast and I really fed off the crowd today."
To the delight of the crowd, Le Guellec shot clean through the first round of the shooting. A penalty on the second round forced him to ski a 150m penalty loop.
By finishing in the top 60, Le Guellec has qualified for the men's 12.5km pursuit on Tuesday and will start just 50 seconds back.
