GeeGeeMcFee GeeGeeMcFee:
I just deposited $33K into my credit card account so that I can buy a BIG ticket item using my card.
I was anticipating a little wait of a day or three, no problem.
But I was thinking the other day I got my ex-wife a pre-paid credit card because she's a loser with bad credit and no credit card and so is her husband and they needed to do something and they wanted to use mine (I'm generous but ASIF!).
Well at Canada post you can get one for whatever amount you want - there is a $20 fee which I don't mind paying and you can refill it instantly at any Canada Post. So one one hand I have $33k in nowhereland for three days but my ex can use her prepaid card instantly after making a payment at the post office.
I can send money to anyone almost instantly, paypal, interac right from my account, and even draw cash instantly from instadebit when I want to donate a hundy on pokerstars.
Yet my Mastercard takes AT LEAST 2 days, I've been checking into a hotel in Vegas four business days after paying off my card and they ask me to pay cash cause my card is declined.
Is there no recourse for this? How is it possible that in 2013 a straightforward transaction like this takes 2-3 business days? I even went to the bank and posted it instead of online banking. Anyways I have $75 dollars left on my mastercard I'm going to get a case of beer till this clears...maybe smoke a J.
I'm not aware of any electronic deposit that updates instantly. Pre-paid cc is actually a purchase rather than a deposit I believe.
