$1:
Downtown Vancouver arms dealer gets five years in jail
Susan Lazaruk, The Province
Published: Sunday, September 09, 2007
An arms broker with gang associations who shocked Vancouver police with the size and variety of the cache of guns and ammunition found in his apartment has pleaded guilty to weapons and drug charges and been sentenced to five years in jail.

Jong Ca John Lee, 26, showed no emotion during sentencing.

Richard Peck and Ian Donaldson, two of the city's top defence lawyers, entered a joint submission with Crown prosecutor Mike Huot on the suggested five-year sentence, minus time served.

Peck told the B.C. Supreme Court judge Chief Associate Justice Patrick Dohm that it was "a terrible lesson for [Lee]. He will not be back before the courts. He is an intelligent, otherwise decent, somewhat nave person of seemingly good values."

Lee, who had no criminal record, pleaded guilty to 10 counts, including possession of a dozen guns, some loaded and some with defaced serial numbers, including automatic and semi-automatic rifles, and almost two dozen magazines of ammunition.

Lee also pleaded guilty to possession of 3.5 kilograms of ecstacy (worth $400,000) for the purposes of trafficking, 900 grams of marijuana, a Panther stun gun, a silencer and three stolen Canadian passports obtained through a home invasion.

Huot told court police also found $4,000 in cash, a balaclava, a large number of cellphones and BlackBerries, as well as military paraphernalia. He said Lee was associated with the United Nations gang and the items found suggested "possible organized violent activity."

Dohm sentenced him to five years each on two of the weapons charges and two years on each of the other charges, to be served concurrently. Peck's firearms stash was found after police stumbled upon it after someone called but then hung up on a 911 call from Lee's downtown apartment April 28.

Why did the crown give in to the defence and agree with their suggestion of only 5 years? Why were the charges so soft on this obvious gun supplier for the mob?

I blame Trudeau and the Charter.

That Charter is used for the "rights" of criminals rather than the rights of the victims.

It all went down hill with Trudeau.

This is the guy who had a supressed AR15 and a tripod mounted MG42, to go with his nazi flags & rubbish. I'm sure Trudeau would have approved.

There may have been a lighter sentence given because he cooperated with police and gave up some other names and crimes........at least I hope that's what happened.

My reference to Trudeau was reguarding their common interest in Nazi regailia.

Indeed, judges do a great many stupid things. Here in BC, we have a wealth of stupid judges. One needs to wonder where all these stupid judges came from. It's not like we elected them, after all. It's also not like we can effect their actions.
Who exactly could you blame for the unnacocuntable actions of these judges, except the politicians who put them there and built the system that let them florish? After all, if they didn't like it, why did they let it happen?

Masked gunmen fire shots into Vancouver restaurant wounding two
1 hour ago

VANCOUVER (CP) — Two people were injured after two masked gunmen opened fire through the window of a Vancouver restaurant Saturday night at a birthday party of about 25 people.

A 29-year-old male victim, who police say is known to them and is believed to have been targeted, is not cooperating with investigators. He has been released from hospital while a woman who was also injured is still recovering.

Forty-seven witnesses were taken to the police station for questioning.

The shooting comes a month after two people were killed and six wounded in a shooting incident at another Vancouver eatery.

The Vancouver Police Department has released a statement saying it is shocked that criminals targeting each other are putting the public in harm's way.

Canada is not the only place where gun crime seems to go unpunished..
I live in Manchester England..... commonly know through out the rest of England as GUNchester..
Recently 2 know gang leaders were released early from there prison sentence (8yrs if i recall corectly) within 2 weeks of them being released the gun crime in Manchester went up by almost 40% !!!!!!!!!

The police re arrested the 2 on .......yes you guessed it gun charges and they got 3yrs a each (so im led to belive)

Its really stupid when you cosider you can get 1 yr for none payment of Council tax (a tax to pay for refuse collection, road maintainence, emergency services etc)

recently a 11 yr old boy was shot dead in a neighbouring city (liverpool) the person currently arrested for it (and released on bail) is 16yrs old..

That's nuts. Who would have expected that 2 guys, already convicted of gun crimes would get out and commit more gun crimes. Everybody, that's who.

There's an old cynical saying that the law is for law abiding people. That criminals will always be criminals and don't obey the law and the laws are really to keep the sheeple in line. All the recent judgements prove that they've given up on the real thugs and simply cycle them through the system.

I notice the Liberal clean up crew haven't answered my question about where these silly judges come from and who keeps them accounatble.

What? You silly people though that gun control was about taking guns away from criminals?

ROTFL

Criminals have rights, don't you know that?

Gun control is about taking away YOUR guns so your rulers can rule you with less concern of being shot by outraged and rebellious citizens.

What would we do with all those fingers and thumbs.
I know a fast food joint looking for a new 'chili con carne' supplier.
