Ed Freeman
You're a 19 year old kid. You're critically wounded, and dying in the

jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-1965, LZ X-ray , Vietnam . Your

infantry unit is outnumbered 8 - 1, and the enemy fire is so intense, from

100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the

MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know

you're not getting out. Your family is 1/2 way around the world, 12,000

miles away, and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade

in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a

helicopter, and you look up to see an un-armed Huey, but it doesn't seem

real, because no Medi-Vac markings are on it...

Ed Freeman is coming for you... He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job,

but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the

Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in, and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 2

or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out through the gunfire, to the Doctors and Nurses.

And, he kept coming back.... 13 more times..... And took about 30 of you

and your buddies out, who

would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient, Ed Freeman, died last Wednesday at the age of 80,

in Boise , ID ........

May God rest his soul......

I bet you didn't hear about this hero's

passing, but we sure were told a whole

bunch about some one gloved child molester.

Medal of Honor Winner

Ed Freeman!

Shame on the American Media

...now, pass this along on YOUR mailing list, please.

I hear you RH. I've read about Freeman's exploits but had no idea he passed away.
That is a disgrace. Some freak writes a bunch of faggy tunes and he's some sort of hero and the media falls all over themselves bringing you this "tragic" news.
But a TRUE hero's passing prolly never got mentioned beyond his hometown newspaper and military publications.
I salute you MR. Freeman. May you RIP, you have MORE then earned it.

RIP Major Freeman.

The email is in part bogus because Ed Freeman died in 2008, not this year. He was still an incredibly brave hero, but it's an email that's pushing an agenda that's for sure.

$1:
Medal of Honor veteran dies in Idaho
Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Edward Freeman, a former Army helicopter pilot awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroics during the Vietnam War and portrayed in the Mel Gibson movie "We Were Soldiers," has died. He was 80.

Doug Freeman said his father died Wednesday in Boise from health complications due to Parkinson's Disease after spending several weeks undergoing treatment.

I find it disgusting that someone would desecrate the memory of a true hero because of their hatred of Michael Jackson.

That was the first thing I thought of when reading the first post.

If you want to glorify this man and his efforts that saved many lives who just passed away, why ruin the whole thing and use it as an attack towards the media and their coverage of MJ? It just counters the whole thing and Michael Jackson is yet again, brought back into the spotlight, which was the whole problem in the argument in the first place.

And now rather then just talking about this guys efforts, it's going to be now mish mashed with more comments about Michael Jackson.... just like what my post is doing.

Funny how that works, eh?

Not really. How many heard about this when it happened? Like I said, I've read about Ed's exploits(long before Mel's movie). I heard not one word about his passing until this thread.
If we compare this to what MJ(or any other celebrity for that matter) has done, there is no comparison. How many other celebrity deaths were big news in the least year, that we got to hear about for days and days? When it comes right down to it, MOST of those people really did fuck all.
To even refer to these people as some sort of hero is an insult to real heroes and seriously diminishes the term. And to lavish attention on even their deaths, is mere idol worship. Ed Freeman took serious risks to his life, to ensure others would live. I can think of no higher level of bravery nor integrity.
HR was merely pointing out that what passes for newsworthy these days is sorely lacking. And if we're gonna "worship" heroes, how 'bout we try it with REAL ones.

Not that I'm assuming I can speak for ya HR

Another fucked up priority? Paying millions to a guy to play hockey or baseball, while there are teachers raising and educating our children that get a ridiculously small wage for it.

Well I see it as this....

These people like Jackson and such have been shoved into everybody's face almost monthly since most have been born.

out of sight, out of mind. Sucks, but it happens.

Was he in the spotlight all the time, talking about what he did, telling his stories all on the scale of these other people? Not to my knowledge.

I'm not saying that's justified as to why they're heard more about then him, but it's to be expected.

People have their own versions of heroes personal to them. While people know he has done heroic deeds that are impressive beyond imagination, they are not a personal hero.

People become other people's heroes for different reasons, in different ways, and I personally wouldn't pick and choose who's more of a hero to another. That's for each person to decide for themselves.

Some people it's their mom or dad.

Other's listened to someone's music in their youth that somehow said the words that helped them through their moment in life.

And some people's heroes are those who literally sacrafice their lives for others.

In either of the cases and many more, usually someone's own life is in some sort of trouble.... either by bullets, your ass from something you got yourself into..... or sometimes suicide.... sometimes medical.

I just don't see the logic in bashing someone's else's death for the way other's ignored or never heard like many here, someone else's death.

It's funny that so many people got pissed off about people hyping up Jackson's death, which is still going on today in the media..... when they themselves didn't know, just like those here finger pointing didn't know.

Don't hate the playa, hate the game..... don't hate the viewers, hate the damn media down there who sucks in the ratings at whatever cost and neglect to inform us of other important matters in the world.

That's one thing that really pissed me off. For almost a week I saw nothing but Jackson crap in the news and I thought to myself "Did the whole fk'n world just stop or something? Wasn't there a war going on somewhere? Didn't anybody die today? Doesn't somebody on a farm want to show off their donkey that plays the piano for the locals?????" :?

Like he`s dead people.... he ain`t getting any deader.

Get back to me in like a week on what you guys found out.... I don`t need to know every damn licking thing every 5 minutes.... tell me about something else, I got Entertainment Tonight on back to damn back if I want to have a non stop barrage of MJ crap.

No worries, you meant well. Ed Freeman was without a doubt a hero.

It a good example how everything on the Net needs to be scrutinized, instead of taken at face value.
