So you're now using Bush's visit as an example of a good thing or bad thing? I can't quite figure out if Americans are now "cool" or not.. Or is this just another example of "Harper did it too".
Was it Dion or Iggy who said " America is our neighbor, not our nation"?

I wonder if Iggy will remember to relax his throat and cup the balls during his visit.... Seriously what meaningful conversation can you have for 15 min?
It's going to take me a while to get over all this stupidity.

bootlegga bootlegga: $1: During that visit, Bush spent almost as much time huddled with then opposition leader Harper as he did with Paul Martin, who was prime minister. http://www.leaderpost.com/news/Obama+Ot ... story.htmlSounds like the opposition meeting with the President is rather common... lets just skip over the details to do some Liberal Hacking. How long was Bush's visit...overnight not 5 hours. Iggy should be happy he gets any time. It's time for you Liberal hacks to put a sock in it.

Eisensapper Eisensapper: bootlegga bootlegga: DrJones DrJones: Iggy wants to be relevant. It's always hard for the opposition leader when a foreign leader visits. Like it was for Harper when Martin was PM? Pretty much, Im sure Harper would do the exact same thing if the roles were reversed, what I am wondering now is; if the Coalition had actually went through who would the president be meeting? Dion. That's a scary thought.

No, the point is when Harper was opposition leader he visited with Bush too.
This is just another case of right wing hypocrisy. It's okay when their guy does something (like working with separatists for example), but it's the end of the fucking world when a Liberals does the exact same thing...
Frankly, I think it's totally stupid to meet with the Opposition leader no matter which party they represent, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the US two party system.

Sorry folks I'm just learning about Canadian politics but just a reminder about Obama. He is only a idol to mainly the youth who don't know any better and the ex stream left> Most folks that work for a living in American voted for McCain. People who get handouts voted for Obama.
He didn't win by all that much as far as the popular vote.
In my neck of the woods Obama is a very sour taste in the mouth something that is spit out with distaste. Around here Obama wouldn't get 10 people to show up to support him and all the people around me are farmers or laborers who work 10 plus hours a day, hunt, fish and go to church on Sunday.
Obama is a cuss word around my part of the woods.

I like Senator Duffy’s prospective on all this. He said if he gets a chance to meet the messiah, he may fall to his knees before the great one and ask him to place his hands on his head and see if he can grow Duff some hair.

Sure I did, did you? $1: Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff wants to meet with U.S. President Barack Obama for at least 20 minutes, amidst reports he may only get 15 minutes of one-on-one time.
The meeting was initially supposed to be 30 minutes. Harper got 30 minutes in 2004, so why shouldn't Iggy expect to get the same, especially if that was what was agreed on in the first place.

Keep crying Boot. I have a feeling that the President's people have some say into who he meets and for how long.

Gotta agree with you on this one Boots. Fair is fair. I think Iggy-pop should get his time with 'The Messiah'. Based on the 'time ratio formula' that the opposition used to allott Harper his visiting time with Bush, Iggy would be well advised not to waste any of his 6.25 minutes!

I'm not crying, just pointing out another of your hypocrisies. Like I said halfway up the page, I think it's stupid for a head of state to meet with the leader of the Opposition (no matter which party he/she represents).

Were you watching CBC, it was the President's people that made the schedule. The PMO had nothing to do with it. Now go get that popcorn ready for the Matinee this afternoon.
