sandorski sandorski: Economies of Scale. The more Customers you have, the Lower Price you are able to offer. Elementary Economics. Israel has 6M residents and about 5-6 ISPs. Canada has 30M. I know that ISP buys internet traffic per gigabyte.

Canada is a bit larger tho... I am Dutch, and a lot of times surprised how inefficient things work here. Then I am reminded that Canada is so big, putting powerlines in the ground is economically not justified. (just an example). I think The Netherlands has 20 ISP's, and 25 different cellphone providers. *edited TWICE for spleling*

Our local cable provider has $70/month base package. I installed 4 dishes on the roof. And now I have a bunch of channels absolutely free. You don't have to be a genius to do that.

I think that one always can find the right way. Buy what you need not what they want to sell you. And stay positive. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

Internet, but the latency is killer. I work from home, so Sat isn't an option. Like Bren alludes to, there are also differences in geography too. So, I buy what is available. Luckily, there are no caps. I run BitTorrent 24/7/365 and have never had an extra charge. But I also limit it voluntarily (because it also kills latency).

As mentioned, I receive internet via satellite, -when I lived in your 'area' I was using Telus hi-speed- and in all aspects but 'tech support' there is no difference. This is not dial-up! ['High speed, no latency here! Currently our provider is out of Vegreville, but the contract has been awarde to MCS in St. Paul, Ab. The county tells me that quality on all fronts will be much improved, and price will not increase. Looking forward to that!

I'm switching to Teksavvy soon (I'm on Bell). 200Gb for 29,95$ or unlimited for 39,95$. Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: It's capitalism, baby. No it's lack of competition. We had telephone monopoly for a long time before they broke it to let smaller companies to get in some years ago.

You don't understand. The monopoly was there because of the government. The other companies could not enter the market before it was deregularized years ago.

Gah...we need more competition in this country. Let DirectTV and the various other US satellite companies in.
