Aside from the pure desperation the NDP has for attention from anyone, I'd guess they also look to attract more of the gay voters than any other party.
The Cons, and even the Liberals don't really make a big deal of sexuality because what happens in the bedrooms is not the states business. They like good government too and probably wouldn't want huge handouts or benefits just for gays. The really millitant ones have already moved over to the NDP camp anyways.
