Not questioning if the did, I think they did, just not sure how it can be proven outside of their art. I'm just questioning if art shows they had a "sense" of mind. Does creativity indicate that the person is aware of his or her mind functioning?

Or am I totally misunderstanding your did the Neanderthals posse this "sense of mind and spirit" question?

Okay...I understand your point - I think that art is a true expression (especially when it's laced with spiritual connotations) of an entity's self-awareness. If you couple that with burial offerings (thus indicating a species' awareness of existence the finality of death), cultural traditions and its clear that Neanderthals were self-aware. Can we read beyond that with certainty? Probably not, but they're fair inferences

So, from that, whatever point you think you're making, you've only instead managed to illustrate your hypocrisy (what with your attacks on athiests), your lack of knowledge and that apparently, when it comes to a discussion forum, you invent excuses to avoid actually having to defend yourself. Your actions are much more on par with somebody who's here to push an agenda rather than explore the reconciliation of creation/evolution.

I am going to break my rule of not getting into threads that are going nowhere--like this one, or the twelve dozen odd threads on global warming, but I would like to make one point here. Why should I care what Americans believe. If they want to have their schools teach creation science, it does not effect me a bit. My take is that the notion of man being created in gods image was some sage's arrogant notion and likely not divinely inspired. For all we now a giant squid is likely closely to "God's" image.

While we are the subject of images.....how did the image of "JESUS" get blonde hair and blue eyes.....he more likely resembled Yasir Arrafat or Saddam Hussein......and the Virgin Mary resembled Golda Myer.

There is much to suggest that at least some of us do have neanderthals as ancestors, Neanderthal DN has been recovered and it's tracks are found in some modern humans.

Such as Jack Layton, Michael Moore, David Suzuki, Stephan Dion............
