Tricks Tricks:
So you're cool with legalizing gay marriage and abortion? Because those laws shouldn't be forced upon people who don't wish to be religious correct?
I've often said that I'm just fine with liberals having all the abortions they want. As to gay marriage my compromise was accepting secular civil unions in those states that wanted to do that. I've never supported gay marriage because of the precedent that it sets for opening a Pandorah's Box in which the courts will rule that all sorts of marriages are possible once the limitiation to one man and one woman is removed.
We're already seeing a cultural shift in which polygamy is next on the radar for acceptance and mandatory tolerance. This is evidenced in the innumerable programs on television these days about polygamous families such to the point that it is no longer the curiosity that it used to be.
All that's left is to have some judge say that the same arguments that allow for gay marriage can be applied to consensual polygamy and there it is.
And when the pendulum of public opinion eventually swings back the other way it'll swing
hard. That's because the mob doesn't negotiate or reason.
I know you may see me as an old fashioned troglodyte but the truth be told at my core I really don't give a damn about queers, muslims, Aztlan-Mexicans, polygamists, or any other subscribers to the kinds of -isms that demand that everyone else accomadate them.
I care about
stability and what I see are way too many people who take the stability of our nations and our civilization for granted as if nothing can alter them.
It's ironic that the very people who deny that these institutions can be destabilized are themselves actively trying to destabilize them for their own, narrow purposes.
In my lifetime people like yourself and the other socially progressive types on this forum used to ridicule anyone who said that gays would one day try to have the right to adopt children, get married, or teach in the public schools or lead in the military. Just thirty years ago those ideas were repugnant and anyone who said they were possible was denounced as a paranoid lunatic.
Now the same crowd denounces anyone who warns that pedophiles are trying to get their -ism normalized even though they tried to get their sickness normalized by the psychiatrists last year and they'll no doubt try again. If that follows the same path as homosexuality then in 30 years you can expect to be called all sorts of names for opposing 'intergenerational' marriages.
Likewise just five years ago barely anyone had an awareness of polygamy and now it's been mainstreamed and I expect a court to rule in favor of it this year or by the latest, next year.
Oh well, there was more I was going to write but I got beer waiting for me at home and that's far more important to me right now than this.
Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!
