Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Jorge (5 letters) and Bergoglio (9 letters), the avergae of which is 7. He's 77. That makes 7-7-7. He is teh chosen one to duel the anti-Christ (Barack Hussei Nobama = 6-6-6). You saw it here first folks.

It fits in with Obama sending the bust of Churchill back and giving the Queen that iPod. Clearly it's a plot to destroy the United Kingdom, starting with the Falklands.

From the interwebz:

$1:
New Pope Francis I is a conservative in the mold of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II. That’s especially true on the issue of abortion, which he called a “death sentence” for the unborn in 2007. “We aren’t in agreement with the death penalty,” he said during that speech, “but in Argentina we have the death penalty. A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death.”

In his writings, Francis wrote, “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence,’ that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortions, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals.”

Francis is also anti-euthanasia: “Today,” he wrote, “elderly people are discarded when, in reality, they are the seat of wisdom of the society. The right to life means allowing people to live and not killing, allowing them to grow, to eat, to be educated, to be healed, and to be permitted to die with dignity.”

"... and to be permitted to die with dignity.”

Yet, against euthanasia?
That kind of sends a mixed message...

Looks like another seat warmer as he's fairly old and seems to be a compromise between the orthodox and reform factions. He'll bring some change but not a lot. When it comes to homosexuality ...birth control and the ordination of women he's old school

A question, if anybody knows.

Who would be the most against...
abortion
married priests
women priests

Latin American or African Catholics?

Some rites of the Catholic Church in Africa allow for married priests the way the Orthodox Church does. They have to be married before taking vows

How can one "be permitted to die with dignity", when you can not choose your time of death yourself?

I just hope I don't have to hear "conclave" for at least 10 years.

He's a Catholic and would see euthanasia as murder and voluntary euthanasia as suicide.

It's part of his faith and his culture.
