The Jay's stint leading the AL east didn't last long, one day, but thanks to Jose Bautista hitting his 300th career home run tonight against the Houston Astros they are now only 1.0 games behind the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight's win over the Astros also ends an 8 game losing streak at Houston's Minute Maid Park.
Bautista the newest member of 300-HR club
HOUSTON -- Jose Bautista picked up another milestone on Tuesday night, when he slugged the 300th home run of his career.
Bautista became the 10th active player to reach the 300-homer plateau with a solo shot off Astros right-hander Lance McCullers that gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The blast was like many of his previous home runs, a no-doubter to left.
According to Statcast™, Bautista's 14th home run of the season traveled a projected 402 feet. It left his bat at 110 mph, his personal best.
The veteran slugger now has two homers since being activated from the 15-day disabled list on July 25.
