Can we get a link with more information on that? While obviously any such news is good news, Canada has only been marginally better than the US on poverty. We are, as usual, a narrower shadow following them. None of the effects of poverty have been addressed, while the 'crime industry' in Canada is beginning to take off, even though we know that the majority of people, particularly women, are in jail BECAUSE they are poor and have few options. And of course, we all remember when they disqualified student loans from bankruptcy protection right here in Canada. You should also remember that bankruptcy laws vary wildly from state to state, I doubt the same is true in canada, but that's something I've fortunately never had to look into.

Marcarc,

If you look this post was put under U.S Politics. I know you mean well when you like to bring up Canadian issue, however, you seem to disaprove any talk of U.S politics on here. Discuss it with site admin if you would rather there be no U.S content.

As for Canadian poverty and bankruptcy issues. I'm very much aware the problems here. I only bring up U.S recent bankruptcy policy, because I realize that this same (no bankrupcty protection at all) can happen here in Canada. In the U.S I'm sure credit card companies played a role in making this happen. This can happen here in Canada as well.

Kevin

I don't know what you refer to, you've been reading my posts selectively if you think I don't talk about the US. However, all I did was ask for more information, you are the one who mentioned the Canadian bill, so obviously I am interested to know more about it.

My comments were primarily addressing the issue you brought up (the NDP and bankruptcy), while my concluding remarks were referring to your topic about US bankruptcy laws (and the separation of federal and states laws addressing them).

If I took some wind out of the US bashing sails, well, I can't really say I'm sorry. In any given day there are a dozen stories similar to what you posted, and good for you and the people for bringing them here, but my two cents will always be how this affects Canada and an analysis of exactly what it means-to me that's how such things become useful. In conclusion, I am interested in the NDP bill to which you refer, have you a link?

I'm referring to all posts I have done that inform people of a U.S issue. I respect if that is of no interest to you, however, I've observed that you constantly debunk it with reffering to Canada. Like I said I understand all the same concerns of Canada. In this case I just wanted to point out something that was going on in the U.S, because that same policy idea I'm sure can show up here in Canada one day.

I post it under U.S politics for a reason. It means not Canadian politics ;-)

Now I said...... "In Canada our government, from NDP pressure, has moved to protect Canadians from debt."

I didn't say....... "I am interested in the NDP bill to which you refer, have you a link?."

No mention of a bill came from me. I said NDP pressure.

Link 1

Link 2

Link 3

""" Can we get a link with more information on that? While obviously any such news is good news, Canada has only been marginally better than the US on poverty.--Marcarc """"

I didn't say anywhere in my post anything that said otherwise. I was simply stating that this new bill in the U.S will affect many who will be forced into poverty.

Kevin

I should mention to those who are following this thread because of interest in U.S affairs. That there were 8 Republicans who were voting against this bankruptcy bill in the U.S. Yet after pressure from the Republican party they "Flip Flop" to support it.

Kevin

That's all I was looking for dude, I don't usually reply to your posts any more than any others and there's nothing confrontational in my 'swinging' the argument around to Canada (which you yourself said was your interest in mentioning it). I don't read which posts come from where, I only look at new ones, and even so, on a 'vivelecanada' site I'm not going to apologize about making canadian comments. You and anyone else are free to ignore them and carry on.

""" I don't read which posts come from where, I only look at new ones, and even so, on a 'vivelecanada' site I'm not going to apologize about making canadian comments. I was simply posting a U.S issue, under U.S politics section, to inform anyone who was following U.S affairs. I would assume there are people who do.

I've brought up just as much Canadian issues here as American issues. Child poverty in Canada is an issue I posted here several times. I even said here before that Canada was a first class phony. A quote I picked up in a Mel Hurtig book.

I think overall of our conversation, we are just misunderstanding eachother. That isn't unusual with online conversations.

Thanks for the chat, it was fun.

Kevin
