Tricks Tricks: Any scientific calculator does. And 99% of highschool kids have them, and the majority of elementary kids over grade 6 do as well. Only some scientifics do proper order of operations. It was a new thing as I went through. Maybe most do these days, but my first scientific didn't - it just did things as you punched them in.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: lily lily: The calculator will process the functions as you key them in. It doesn't save everything and spit out the answer at the end. Many new calculators do just that, including mine. Type in the full question and it will give you the full answer. Mind you, they cost A LOT. Mostly just High School students own them. No one else bothers with High Tech calculators. They are necessary in most High School math classes simply to avoid incorrect answers and these retarded debates about the verifiability of calculators, [/quote] This thread is turning into a swirling vortex of stupid. They don't cost alot. They are like 25 bucks http://www.thesource.ca/estore/Product. ... ct=6518192And the only class you should need them in highschool is calculus, and that's just because it takes forever otherwise. Everything else a calculator isn't necessary at all, I would know, I always forgot mine and did it by hand. Did that for like 3 years.

Hurley, we aren't talking in like the 60s True some don't, but the vast majority do, and if you get a scientific calculator that doesn't, you fail.

I hope they still do I am personally not a fan of giving a kid in a general math class or elementary school a calculator, takes away from the whole 'learning' part ....but calculus and trig sure are fun without any help I like teaching the kids that at home....yep im a geek

This "skill-testing question" think is a bit of a legal anachronism. It's one of the reasons I say that whenever someone brings in a new law, they should have to repeal an old one.
It's a retarded law that, as far as I know, exists only in Canada, put in place because otherwise "roll up the rim" would be deemed "gambling." Score another one for the Puritans. And the lawyers--techncially, the person giving this woman her GPS is in contravention of teh anti-gambling provisions of the Criminal Code!

Funny that this thread has gone to 12 pages over a woman who can't add, subtract, multiply single digits in her head all because of a learning disability she says, tough titties IMO, no GPS for you ! The strangest part is is that she gave the wrong answer two times ? I geuss she has comprehension "disabilities" too. Answer 51 Wrong answer try again 51 ?
