If someone is offended (and I will say it) like an immigrant, then they can LEAVE.
Don't like it, go home.

stokes stokes: "Sometimes we have students whose parents, because of their beliefs, don't want their children to participate," Watson told CTV Atlantic.
If your beliefs preclude you from singing "OH CANADA" maybe it is time to explore other places to call home. National pride in Canada should not be trumped by personal/ religous beliefs totally agree, don't believe in Canada, get out.

I will say that if someone doesnt want to participate in the anthem is fine with me. But that doeasnt mean it has to be banned. When I was in elementary school, I was in a class with a guy who, for whatever personal reasons, his parents requested he be allowed to not "participate" in the anthem. So when it came on in the moring, when we all stood at attention at our desks, he was allowed to go out in the hall and wait for it to be over. This worked for his parents but allowed the rest of us to still maintain our traditions. Don't see how the same can't be done in this situation.

Probably, and I doubt anything will be done.

stemmer stemmer: $1: But some in the community said that the decision may have been made because of Millett's personal beliefs. Millett ran for the Green Party in the last federal election and his website describes him as "actively involved in the peace movement."
AND Why I will never VOTE for the Green Party... They are punks out to destroy countries and nations, replacing them with a global government of some sort... The Green Party is an international party and international parties should be banned from running in Canada.... I'll second that motion 100% ![Canada Flag [flag]](./images/smilies/smilie_flag.gif) Furthermore, if they don't like things in Canada, they can take their flakey new age ideas and leave.

from CTV http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... TopStoriesRadio Host Tyler Glen of Star-FM in Brandon, Manitoba spoke to Millett Friday morning. Millett, who ran as a candidate for the Green Party in the last election, has faced suggestions that his personal views were responsible for the decision. But he says there were two reasons for his decision; parent's complaints and that the anthem disrupted students in the morning. "It's true that we have students, that for various reasons, are not allowed to sing the national anthem (for) whatever reasons, religion, beliefs, values," he told the radio station. "The difficulty we were having were that children we having physical reactions to the anthem. They would scrunch up their face, put their fingers in their ears, bend down and get on the floor because they felt they were doing something they weren't allowed to do," he added.Millett also said that because his school is rural, late buses in the winter meant that students would arrive during the playing of the anthem, which was "chaotic." But he said that the anthem has not been completely cancelled, and is still played at monthly assemblies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tell them to get back on the boat they just got off and go fuck themselves...only in Canada would you get away with such Liberal friggen crap.

Eh, RoC plays the national anthem and/or sings it in schools? The only other country I know that does that is the US.
