Well, it's been 6 months now that I've been receiving phone solicitations from Skytel. Despite the fact I have a private number, I was polite the first couple of times explaining that I have no need for their service. But the calls kept coming, often more than once a week and sometimes as many as 3 times a week. After a LOT of searching to find a way to contact them without having to be be a subscriber to their service, I left them a very detailed message to remove my number permanently from their autodialer. That worked for about a month, then in the last 7 days, they called..3 more times!!! They crossed the line from nuisance to harassers. The DNCL is useless since these fuckers aren't located anywhere on the continent. I've tried contacting the Canadian telecom companies Skytel claims to be associated with but none of them seem to know what I'm talking about or even know who or what Skytel is. A little background. Skytel is a Mongolian telecom company with South Korean backers and their head offices in Bangladesh. I just don't know what to do when these fuckers call anymore 'cept hurl various racial epithets at them when they call. I've filed a formal complaint with the CRTC, but other than my requesting that Skytel be prohibited from accessing the Canadian telecom system since they don't wanna obey the rules of that same system, I really don't see the CRTC being able to do much about it. Anyone have any good, serious suggestions for giving these rectum rangers the message?

Serious: If you have call ID, ignore them. If you don't, get it and ignore them. Fun: Get one of those air horns for hockey games and blast it at your mouthpiece when they call. It might not do anything for the call frequency but it might make you feel better.

Caller ID is a nice feature, but we need Caller Block. Just add in the numbers you don't want to receive Calls from and voila.

I have caller ID but all I get when they call is "long distance call" which is pointless because my phone rings differently when it's an incoming long distance call anyway. Can't use that as a guide to ignore it though as my brother has a private number so when he calls, I get the same "long distance call" notification. I think Roger's has a service for $4/month that will block specified numbers but it only works when you know the number being called from.

Tell them you're already a subscriber and will quit if they call again.
I do this to the door-to-door charity guys. No offence, but it's like one a day, and I don't thave the time or inclination to listen to the spiel.
THEM: blah blah blah Greenpeace blah blah blah ME: Oh, Greenpeace! I already give you guys lots of money THEM: Really? ME: Scads. THEM: I don't see you on our... ME: Are you calling me a liar? THEM: No no no. ME: Great. See you then. Good luck with your fund drive for PETA. THEM: um...you mean...Greenpeace ME: Yeah whatever. <slam>

Once, Le Journal de Montreal (newspaper) called me 3 times in the same day, 3 different people. The last person to call was a one very unlucky person. I admit it, I snapped, I yelled and screamed at her to put me on the no-call list... but they NEVER called again.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: That second one sounded like the last phone call I got from Skytel. Called the guy a donkey fucker and questioned the profession of his mother and if he was the product of his mother and some farm animal getting together. Only I didn't phrase it that politely Then I really let go. I found their e-mail so now I'm just spamming the living fuck out of them

sandorski sandorski: Caller ID is a nice feature, but we need Caller Block. Just add in the numbers you don't want to receive Calls from and voila. That worked for a couple years, then they started making up their own phone numbers to get past it. If their products are so f-ing good, why do they constantly need to hide? Why move call centres to where phone laws don't apply to your customers? Why do they intentionally go out of their way to piss their potential customers off? If they had a legitimate business that I could go into, and plunk down my money, I just might if I needed their product. But if I ever found out where some of these robodialer 'you have won 2500 travel dollars' assholes call centre is, you can bet I would be up to some mischief. All hail Loki!
