The armories have a mess for the officers and NCO's. They get black out drunk all the time. What's the big deal? At least it is in house.

Great, the bar has the receipts. So charge the cop and the suspend the bar license for overserving and fire the bartender. I'm still ok with cops/military or any other high stress occupation having their own waterhole as long as they are held to the same standard as the public bars are.

I have no problem with on-site drunk ups either. But it's the idea that a police bartender may have to fight the thin blue line in order to tell an Inspector that he's not fit to drive. Any 'civillian' bartender would be able to.
Problems are best solved before bad things happen, not after impaired cops get into accidents.

Police policing the police isn't a new idea it is the accepted standard operating procedure. That has always been an issue but that is not the same as workers having access to quality of life work environment. Punish the transgressor not the institution. When the institution fails to enforce common law to cover up an old boys club then you need to go after the institution but not before. Cause is required to alleviate accusations of witch hunts.
Lord knows we need to clean house in the police and military of that but right tool for the right job.

$1: Even upon appeal, sentence in cop's assault on 'cuffed suspect shockingly inadequate
That Const. Alexander Dunn may never serve a day behind bars for his violent take-down of a petite Black woman is nothing short of a travesty of justice. Article content
And even if the 30-day jail sentence an appeal judge said should have been imposed on Dunn doesn’t get judicially stayed and he has to serve some time in custody, it still seems grossly inadequate for what he did to Dalia Kafi.
In a written decision released last week, Justice Nancy Dilts found the 30-day conditional sentence handed Dunn, which included 15 days of house arrest, was “demonstrably unfit.”
But she didn’t agree with the Crown that a sentence of nine months was appropriate.
Instead, Dilts substituted the conditional term handed Dunn by Justice Michelle Christopher, with a 30-day custodial sentence to be served intermittently, followed by probation coupled with community service.
While Dilts agreed with Crown prosecutor Michael Dunn (no relation to the offender) that jail was required, she found nothing near the punishment he argued was needed.

Vancouver officer worried Myles Gray would keep resisting if he regained consciousness, inquest hears$1: Two people had called for police after Gray wandered into the neighbourhood, swore at a woman and sprayed a garden hose at her as she watered plants outside her co-op building. Each told the inquest Tuesday they were fearful because Gray wasn't wearing a shirt or shoes and appeared "intoxicated."
...
The ensuing confrontation between Gray, Sahota and her backup left the man with injuries so extensive, forensic experts could not determine a cause of death — a fractured eye socket, broken bones, a crushed voice box, brain hemorrhaging and a ruptured testicle.

Man declared brain dead after being stun-gunned multiple times by Prince Albert police has died$1: On April 1, officers pulled over a black Dodge Avenger in the 1100 block of 13th Street West in Prince Albert, Sask. Police say the vehicle had been reported stolen.
Three people were in the vehicle at the time, including its registered owner. The owner previously told CBC News they were driving and did not report it stolen.
Witness video obtained by CBC News showed six police officers surrounding the vehicle, ordering Umpherville to get out. The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) said last week that a canine unit was also on scene.
During the altercation, the officers used stun guns on him multiple times, one officer used pepper spray, and at least one officer used a baton against the vehicle's windshield. At least one officer appeared to hit Umpherville before grabbing him out of the vehicle to make the arrest.

No charges for Edmonton police constable who kicked Indigenous teen in the head$1: Dumas spent nine days in intensive care and needed extensive follow-up treatment. To relieve the pressure on his brain, part of his skull was surgically removed and eventually replaced with a metal plate.
In Thursday's report, Ewenson said there were reasonable grounds to believe the officer committed an offence. However, on March 30, the Crown recommended charges not be pursued.
"This does not, however, mean the [subject officer's] conduct was appropriate," Ewenson said in the report.
