I think part of the problem is that POS cop was arrested AFTER rioting began. States or the Feds need to pass laws that hold Police accountable for their actions and they need to Investigate allegations openly and prosecute and convict Police when they break the law.
The charges need to be serious, and if guilty, the sentence; heavy.
His colleagues also need to be arrested for accessory.
We are told that no one is above the law. But, for many it seems the Police are an exception to that rule.
You want to stop this, start holding the Police accountable for their actions.
Also better training the Police on things such as use of force, arrest procedures, management of aggressive behavior, public relations, law and interpretation of law, ethics and conduct, "race-relations" and
You're assuming an investigation never happened, and that the cop is 100% guilty without
any kind of trial...
Booth assumptions are wrong.

along with adopting a National use of Force Framework and making the recruitment process more stringent for new Police recruits would go a long way to restoring public trust in the Police.
ya ya, along with no choke holds and shoot them in the legs type
Creepy Joe bullshit.
you know what that won't do ?
restoring the police's trust in the public.
Magic Johnson did an interview or something and said basically
" no peace until a guilty verdict "
You know, it doesn't exactly work like that.
Video is pretty conclusive, I mean you stand on anyone's neck and generally die. The investigation was done, sure and he lost his job for it. However, I'm pretty sure if you take a life that's called homicide, he was not arrested for it at the time of, as is form, he was only arrested after the fact. Once the out-cry had burned half the city to the ground.
The cop is guilty, or can you prove that he "didn't know" that cutting off blood flow to the brain for 9 minutes would kill someone?
Just the latest in a very long line of double standards.
Hold the police accountable for the crimes they commit. It's simple.
You're against actually training the police to do something other than club the shit out of people when they step out of line?
You notice this stuff happens with far less frequency here? That's because they are trained on this shit.
The side of the cruiser says "To Serve and Protect".
Train them on how to act and interact with the people they are serving.
Give your head a shake, bud.
