DerbyX DerbyX:
I have no problem with capital punishment but were those people actually guilty?
Japan is a country with a history of relying a great deal on confessions and false confessions is disturbingly common in human psychology.
Christ John Mark Karr is still confessing guilt. It defies logic to falsely confess.
Japan also goes to great lengths to determine guilt in capital cases and no one in Japan gets the death penalty based on circumstantial evidence. This is where I differ with the law in most US states in that circumstantial evidence should never result in an execution as there *must* be reasonable doubt in such a case. If I'm putting someone to death I don't want to know that it just
looks like they deserve this, I want to
know they deserve it.
Otherwise, lock them up for life so there's a chance that they might be exonerated later on. Or, sentenced to death later on if concrete evidence is presented to prove the case.
And John Mark Karr should be offed just for being
creepy.
