If this story is true, what does it do for Christianity?

Ultimately, nothing. It would undercut fundies a bit more and deny a physical ascension, but even if it were true, it wouldn't really jeopardise the fundamental tenants of Christianity.

It would mean a lot of Christians would start flocking to the tomb.

This story doesnt mean anything to me at all. What I still cant grasp is how people, especially in this century, actually believe that a full physical ascension happened. It defies all logical reasoning. I suppose I will never understand why people put so much faith into something that can't be scientifically proven or even logical.

Faith defies logical reasoning which is why it is called 'faith' and not 'certain knowledge of exhaustively proven fact'.

Even when I was a kid, I never thought that his body went with him. Just his spirit. I mean it made sense to me. If our bodies went why would we bother burying.

Even before gravity was scientifically proven, it still existed.

Of course, but how was a full physical ascension done?

What makes people put so much of their beliefs into it? Telling me about gravity doesnt help a non-believer understand about someones faith.

True. And, even now gravity defies logical explanation to many, many people in the world.

Now that makes more sense to me.

I don't know how a full physical ascension was done, and until it was explained to me, I had no idea how gravity worked, either.

The point is - just because something hasn't been proven (or you don't understand it) doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I can't explain my faith to you.
I can't even really explain it to myself. ;)

Thanks. I have always wondered what/why/how people put so much faith in something they cant see or based on another persons word. It's actually quite amazing, but i have always been known to be skeptical. I always ask alot of questions when i dont understand or want more information.

Probably never understand or maybe one day i will.
