And then there’s the wider economy: the landscapers, construction companies, hotels, meat factories and farms of America that are utterly dependent on undocumented workers. If legal workers could be found they’d have to be paid a whole lot more which would screw up the economy and any chance of re-election.

I beg to differ on this. A few years ago (3-4) a roomer got around that there was going to be a raid at some restaurant's here in town to get illegals and deport them. So the logical thing happened no one showed up for work. Within an hour the were lines at the restaurants. Not for food but for jobs. Every position was filled in 1 day by Legal immigrant's and citizens.

Probably wouldn't happened today our unemployment is one of the lowest in the country. Yet the fact remains the positions currently filled by illegals can, would, and should be filled by legal immigrants and citizens.

Trump admin reportedly drafting order to counter social media “bias”

Free speech is fine, till it's speech you don't like.

Yet when censorship happens it is the governments duty to stop it. In this case it has been and still is being shown that Concretive view points are being censored and or removed from social media outlets.

What right does the government of the United States have telling businesses what viewpoints they must subscribe to? In fact, the First Amendment specifically states they cannot regulate it.

If Conservative viewpoints are being moderated, perhaps they should consider not being dicks on social media. No one has a right to be heard.

Agreed but when the same groups allow vile left leaning commentary to remain a bias is then being shown.

Which is their right. It's a private business right? That's why the cake couldn't be made.

But the US Gov. stepped in and made them make the cake. Left the left cheered then.

The courts are a branch of the Gov. So what you are upset about is not that the Gov. is weighing in on this but that it's Pres. Trump? Just trying to be clear on this NOT trying to put words in anyone's mouth.

If a baker hated me so much that he didn't want to make my cake, I'd never give him my business... I might shame him and bring him to court, but I still wouldn't buy anything from him.

Putting myself in the baker's shoes though, If the courts forced me to bake that cake, it would be the shittiest looking and foul-tasting cake I can make.

I'm not upset. I'm enjoying the collapse of society!

The courts decided discrimination is bad, through the process the use. But the article I linked to shows how Trump himself is ordering the FCC to develop a guide which social media may or may not moderate content from it's clients.

Trump himself is deciding what constitutes free speech.

It will of course get shot down by the courts as soon as Trump signs it. The point being, he's going against the first amendment.

And the right complained. And now they're cheering this.

Also, cake situation was discrimination based on human rights protected class of society, similar to being black. Being a conservative doesn't protect you. So not the same situation, but close enough to point out why conservatives only care about free speech when it affects them.

Did they? I thought the homophobic bakers won their case.

Yes and no. They ruled the the state court was overly hostile to the baker, and sent it back down to be re-evaluated.

They never ruled on the specific case of whether or not the baker can refuse to make the cake. They're leaving it to the state to do it right it appears.
