Andre De Grasse takes Bronze in the Men's 100 metre with a Personal Best of 9.91, while Usain Bolt takes the Gold with a time of 9.81. Justin Gatlin of the US takes Silver. ![Canada Flag [flag]](./images/smilies/smilie_flag.gif)

Bolt is like a rocket.... slow lift off then main engine ignition....gone. Quite the contrast in the relationship between Bolt and De Grasse, and Gatlin, who was actually booed.

I think the story of the night is the mens 400M gold medalist from South Africa and his 74 year old coach, a white haired white woman.
He had the worst starting position coming out of lane 8 and beating 2 past Olympic and World Champions, crushing the 17 year old world record in the process.

N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: Sorry guys. Time for 'Mr. Can't ignore the obvious' to get politically incorrect again. But... doesn't it seem like it's most if not all and only Canadian women who are competitive this time around? So whataya think? They're finally getting a chance, just luck, or it's the new cool amongst the corporate and government elite to sponsor girls over boys? No wait...I know the answer. "Shut up", right? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ships.html$1: Britain's golden couple: Cyclist Laura Trott's got three golds while her boyfriend Jason Kenny has five… but she is MILES ahead in the freebie stakes with deals on clothing, cars and even CHOCOLATE
Trott has enjoyed sponsorship deals with Adidas and Ohso Chocolate Boyfriend Kenny has been less successful and relies on Lottery cash Pair live together in Manchester and plan to get married next year
Their glittering haul of Olympic medals makes them equals on the track.
But off the track it is a very different story for British cycling’s golden couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott, at least when it comes to money.
Charismatic Miss Trott – a giggly blonde – seems to have sponsors falling over themselves to back her. In contrast her fiance – astonishingly for such a successful sportsman – does not have a sponsor and relies on his annual lottery funding as an elite athlete.

Hyack Hyack: Ooooooo-kay......because he's an American. ![huh? [huh]](./images/smilies/icon_scratch.gif) ...................... Nope. A Brazilian explains it: https://www.reddit.com/r/olympics/comme ... _olympics/$1: Okay guys, as a brazillian I will explain what is going on.
Here in Brazil, in sporting events, it is quite common to boo the opposing team. So, if you are in a certain's team home stadium or something, you would cheer your team and boo the other team. It is not considered (to us) disrespectful or anything, it is just a form of cheering and trying to kind of give the best possible home team advantadge you can get.
So, obviously, when a brazillian athlete is playing, people will boo other nations athletes that are playing directly against them. Now, what can also happen, is that when other 2 random teams (that are not Brazil) are playing against each other, the brazillian crowd will pick a favorite and cheer them as if they were Brazil, thus booing their opponent.
This is what hapenned in some US games, and also hapenned with Argentina, I believe.
I do undestand why people think it is disrespectful and kinda weird. But it is just the "cheering" culture here I guess. The same thing happens in MMA, Football and even in eSports, it's just the way it is here in Brazil.
EDIT: Btw, I would like to add that most brazillians are absolutely oblivious to the fact that other nations consider it to be disrespectful. And I actually think that if they realised that people viewed it that way, that they would stop doing it so much. Also, just as a note, the brazillian football team was boo'd the fuck out in their recent game against Iraq.

Olympic crowds don't take kind to those individuals.
