As a native son of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gary Chambers Jr. leads, advocates and lives by the motto “Do Good, Seek Justice”, an excerpt from the gospel of Isaiah 1:17 which requires those in position to effect change to work diligently on behalf of the most vulnerable. Gary seems like a nice guy but a little naive, well a LOT naive actually. Louisiana is easily one of the most corrupt states in the union. What good is one man going to do in all that mobbed up corruption? Its hard enough for a well meaning person to make a difference in a state where everyone is not on the take. Well heeled lobbyist start greasing your palm, wining and dining you, contributing to your campaign. Even good honest people give in to that temptation. You cross the political machine in Louisiana and they will just kill you. Rest assured that the police would give your death the same in depth investigation that Captain America and Billy got.

Maybe Gary is smarter than he looks. Maybe he is already connected and is playing that old "we shall overcome" shtick that has been so successful for the last 70 years. You know it well, talk a good game, promise a lot, deliver very little, enrich yourself and your cronies while blaming all your citizens problems on racism. Works like a charm every time. It it ain't broke, why fix it?

I'd vote for the good person who's naive over the corrupt bunch we already have any day, even if they're all Mensa members.

If we all voted for the good people over the people who promise bread and circuses then don't deliver, then there will be fewer of the latter and more of the former.
