WOW!! Well, let's see. I have 2 friends that have done time in Afghanistan and they still tell me how they wipe their asses with rocks.
Why bring them home?
Because dying in a sand filled shithole surrounded by people that don't give a shit about you is NO way to die.
I support your choice to give your life for what you believe in as long as you support my choice to make sure you never have to make that decision.
What? I wouldn't support you on that, when people join the Military. They know what they are there for. Which is to fight, and sometimes die.
Dieing in a sand filled shithole? Theres lots of sand, yes but dieing there would be no different then getting shot back home. When you are dieing, where you are dieing does not matter. Only thing somebody would want is to die peacefully in there beds surounded by people they know. Otherwise if that don't happen, where they die doesn't make a difference because there going to be dead.
I agree that most of them don't seem to care about us, and that there... not very civilized but either way they are still human beings and deserve a more stable country. Of all the things Canada does in the world, we promote peace and we help others. Why is this different? We are trying to help Afghanistan, why is that any different this time? Because some are shooting at us? Remember, if they all hated us. Wouldn't they all be picking up guns and trying to kill us? Insurgents have to bribe the poor to join them. If they were all so determined to kill us, which some are and not all. They wouldn't be spending a dime on recruitment. They would just say, heres your AK-47 now go kill some NATO soldiers for your religion and country.
There religion kind of messes up any chances of us have any real impact on there progress. As there religion is basicly to hate us because we are either Athiests or of a different religion. But atleast they can police there own country, and stop the spread of future insurgents and terrorists. Well not completly stop them, but stop from them spreading much. I do however believe Afghanistan can be friendly if it wanted. I mean look at Pakistan, and other more civilized Islamic Nations. A lot do trades with us, and some take vacations there. Like in Pakistan.
I say, as long as the soldiers want to serve there (Which they apparently do since Recruitment numbers have been at a all time high). Then let them serve there, it's unfair for us to call them off if they don't want to be called off. Expecially when we are making progress.
