Care to make a polite wager that the arsonist will turn out to be a member of the mosque?

I don't see the point. Whether he is or isn't doesn't make him 'right' or 'left'. And certainly not tolerant.

It would make him a member of the protected ideology of the "Tolerant Left" if he's a Muslim though.

And here's another interesting facet. If he does turn out to be one of the 'pet identities of the regressive left' we can predict that the media will forget about the story shortly after.

However if it does turn out to be some sort of fringe loony or group calling for a white ethno state or such we'll be hearing about it weekly for years.

Bullshit. Don't try walking back your first post here by trying to turn it around on me.

YOU made the assumption that the arsonist is an intolerant right-winger and THAT is the point.

I know better than to jump to that conclusion before the investigation is done.

I think it would make him right wing. Just not North American right wing. Islamists are conservatives after all

Left wingers aren't known for burning Mosques. They usually burn couches (Davenports, if you roll that way).

And THAT is my point. Still seeing lots of 'The Tolerant Left' posts (not from you). Thought I'd bring balance to the hate.

You might want to read up on the links that my search referenced. So far I've found that 100% of North American arson attacks against mosques have been carried out by members of the mosque and in a few cases by the mosque's imam himself.

Thus it's a pretty safe bet that this will be the same result.

I also say that because the damage to the building was merely cosmetic. A coat of paint and it'll be fine.

Anyone who was serious wouldn't have burned the door, they'd have kicked it in and torched the place well and good. May as well since the criminal penalties are the same.

But a member of the mosque who didn't want to desecrate the inside of the sanctuary would not do that.

True Beave, but what I said is also true.

It baffles me why you of the regressive left are so busy protecting what would by your own definition of right wing be right wing.

    Islam, I mean.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, I guess.

Anything is all right as long as it's helping the agenda of incrementally deconstructing the power structure of the conventional West, I guess. And conventional Islam does that just as other identities within the "Progressive Stack" do. In that respect Islam is capable of what you guys call "progress" too. Therefore...allies. Right or left, the wing doesn't matter.

Oh, and Doc, the "Tolerant Left" thread or at least the rebirth of it is a reaction to the "Intolerables" thread so which one of us has really earned the right to virtue signal on who started that feud? I mean really...

I view the enemy of my enemy as another enemy. I have trust issues.

We dont protect Islamists. That type of extremist accusation is what makes you and Islamists so similar.

As far as hoaxes go concerning burning down religious structures go, the one I always think of as a model for that was that one where somebody was burning down black churches in Saint Louis.

    Anybody remember that one?

It's strange if you don't because as I recall there was some here at CKA who were almost ready to storm down to America equipped with tar and feathers to find themselves a rightie whitie.

Do we all remember how that one turned out?
