There have already been 25 other meetings, and they still haven't done sweet fuck all. My hopes are not very high.

No ones are. Not when everyone is coming at this from different yet the same positions. The very popular whats in it for me? Whats in it for my supporters? Whats in it for all our interests? How can we use this to make others look stupid? What about the voters? Will this idea make us look stupid? And what will this cost?

Looking forward to the Canadian delegation proudly announcing the Canadian O&G sector will be fully closed by 2035 at the same time the Chinese delegation proudly announces that China will be tripling their number of coal-burning power plants over the next decade. woo-hoo!

They don't care about you and me. They only care about photo ops and playing some ridiculous game that doesn't matter to the average hard-working person.

Same. The time to act was twenty years ago. The best we can do now is mitigate the worst of the damage to come. And we still cant work together to do that.

The future generations to come will look back on us and hold us in the same contempt as we do now for those who let the slave trade go on for long.

    Good point xerxes.

They are just all getting together because they can and that's it. Be prepared for lots of empty promises and impossible goals that will go nowhere just as they have in the past. Days of bullshit conversations saying all the "correct" phrases and photo ops and meanwhile the people of the countries they represent are paying for it as this must be a costly affair.

Whaddaya expect? Heard some moron on the radio from Vancouver today after forest fires, bomb cyclones, 500 dead from heat and an entrte town burning down said he's seen no evidence in his 60 years of any climate change.
Some people are just too stupid to even believe their own eyes.
It's just another gov't conspiracy to make us pay more

Trudeau says he'll limit emissions from Oil and Gas.

For those who didn't like the carbon tax, it will get much bigger. :) Just stop subsidizing oil companies, and the price will rise too, once they stop sucking off the public tit.

Big difference between saying "will do it" and actually following through. And Chretien/Trudeau Jr have done as little on carbon as Harper ever did. Not that it means much in the end, aside from giving Kenney something to complain about, another excuse to play the non-stop panic-inducing card. And to stir up the yokels who think "This Island Alberta" is a possibility via separation. Yes, separate, and what remains of Canada will absolutely let you transport your product across the new national borders without any interference whatsoever.

I'm actively at the stage now where I wish I'd never lived here, knowing what the reaction to anything will always be. Sigh. :|

It's cute how he thinks he has any power to do so. Trudeau is an idiot, and Big Oil has billions. It's not going anywhere.

India said they will get there... in another 20 years.

Turkey, Russia, China and India. What are you doing?

Yea, he thinks he's only the Prime Minister, and doesn't make any laws or anything. Remember that next time you complain about the carbon tax.

What's funny is that the people who complain that nothing ever gets done at these summits complain when something actually gets done.
