maybe next time you'll think twice about changing something that actually unites Canadians. Canada is not full of left wing CBC loving Liberals like he thought it was.
"The principal said he is now seeing a psychologist as he attempts to overcome the backlash over the anthem dispute."

He just wanted to ram his ideals down our kids throats. Come on!
Kidding, there was enough anger floating around this issue though I think death threats are a bit too much though

Seems like he was only proposing what most schools already do. Maybe you should picket your local school?

he wasn't proposing anything but catering to the whims of a few crybabies over what the rest of the school wanted.
why? because it matched his pinko view of Canada so he abused the situatuion.
you assume O'Canada is not sung at my kids school.
if they dropped something because it offended just a few you bet I would.
Unfortunately there are also schools with discipline problems which may in the end result be due to the policies of either the principal or region superintendent and/or the lack of support for classroom discipline by the teacher. The result is that students start to act up and show disrespect by singing in such a way that mocks the anthem, by acting like some of the audience in a hockey game, by booing, by plugging their ears etc. Principals who bend over backwards to accomodate students tend to be walked all over by students and have a school totally lacking in discipline. Some principals do not earn the respect of the students.
In this kind of situation, it is understandable for a principal to avoid playing the anthem and exacerbating a lack of discipline within a school. That however is a short term solution to an immediate problem. The real question is: Why is there an apparent discipline problem in the school which makes it necessary to not play the anthem in the morning?
Oh please, this guy is such a cheese dick. Nice CBC interview, talk about acting it up for the camera . I loved the part where he was talking about how some parent threatened to beat him up, he almost started to cry. Christ some one needs to tell this guy to grow a pair.
Well, if that is the case, then I am probably correct in asserting that there is likely an overall discipline problem in the school. By the way, you will find that local doctors with psychological and psychiatric qualifications are treating a lot of principals for stress-related illness and that is usually the result of problems throughout the school system from trustees down through superintendents and admin staff to principals and viceprincipals.
Let's face it, this was blown out of proportion. At either of the schools I went to, we only sang the anthem at assemblies.
It's not about how often it's sung.

his supporters keep missing that fact.

Yes, it was, but it seems to have been symptomatic of a more serious problem and some see that problem as being inappropriate/overboard accomodation for new Canadians. I am not sure that was involved at all, but nevertheless I understand the point.
