About time. I just hope they don't find ways to weasel out and limit what she can look at. Knowing Harper, he'll make his expenses a matter of national security.
Thats right Zip, it is all Harpers doing, I dont think any MP's from the larger parties want to be open and accountable when it comes to their spending

Nope, this time we had a coalition of the piggies that included all parties. Much as I hate Harper, I don't think he had any larger role to play here compared to other MP's - ie it was a parliamentary decision. I guess he could have put forward a motion and cracked the whip to get his party to vote for it - dare the other parties to vote against.

Anybody fiddling the books should be criminally charged and kicked out of whatever caucus they are in. Tory, Lib, NDP or Bloc.
I agree. Accountability should be non partisan, and any party that doesn't like accountability ought to get their butts kicked out of power just like the Liberals did.
To be honest, I was happy to see all the parties squirming at this one, and am not surprised that none of the party leaders wanted to take a front seat on this one. tbh, I'm largely disappointed that none of Canada's major media providers took the time to remind Canadians that it was a failure on the part of all parties to react promptly.
I'm betting more than a few MPs are not happy about this, and I'm betting the conservatives got a big win here for being named in a few articles -- even if the media sort of chose to take the piss out of them for it.

Another blow to Harper and victory for open government.
I'd say more a blow to the Liberals ever returning to there "brown-bagging" ways.
