Angus cattle in British Columbia's Okanagan region are being fed red wine with their grain, and chefs say it makes the beef taste unique.

    "Pre-marinated" steak! Sounds like a great idea, I'd love to try some to see for myself.

    Ravndahl said the wine appears to make the steers more docile, which enhances the texture of the meat. "Cattle that are relaxed taste better," she said. "You don't want tense beef."

    "It definitely changes their personalities. They moo a lot more with each other. They get really chatty," she said.

    LOL. Sounds as though the cows enjoy it too.

    The japanese having been feeding beer to their Kobe beef for a looooong time already. Maybe it imparts a bouquet to the meat...I dunno. If they did the same with sheep, maybe Gunnair would discover that they have other uses, meat for example, other than just being 'used'

    Not wanting to be bothered pouring a glass of wine to go with their beef but having that nice flavor has to be the epitomy of freakin yuppie laziness. 8O

    But on the plus side they're are alot of happier cattle in the Okanagan, or at least till the butcher shows up. :lol:
