No sympathy from Eastern Canada as B.C. temperature records topple

British Columbians were shivering Friday under an arctic air mass that shattered temperature records but their plight garnered little pity from their weather-beaten neighbours back east.

Oh noes, minus 8 in Vancouver. It's irritating when something happens to Vancouver and they call it BC. Suck it up Vancouver we had -34 in Prince George last week.

Not everyone in B.C. got off as light as those in Metro Vancouver, though. In the southeast, Sparwood broke a record at minus 31, and cold weather marks were hit in Abbotsford, Campbell River, Cranbrook, Princeton, Revelstoke and Tofino as well.

Records fell in almost 40 B.C. communities overall.

Come on now, it wasn't just Vancouver, although CTV did make it the main focus of the story.

A major chunk of the people living in the Lower Mainland are from other parts of the country where there is a real winter, so I call BS on people whining about not knowing how to deal with cool weather. Our eldest had no trouble transitioning back to a prairie winter after years in the tropics. For him. coming here during the summer is a harder transition.

-25C right now in Saskatoon, actually a fair bit warmer than I thought it would be, I feel no sympathy for anyone when they complain about the cold.

The people out in denim jackets and playing tennis in the weather will be recent arrivals from Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Ah, TV weather stories. Crap journalism at it's peak. Don't blame the people of BC for this, blame the wankers in the media.

I can't feel anything in my extremities anymore.. They promised us -2 tomorrow, now it's down to -6. Even that sounds nice.

    TG,

No matter what the temperature is in BC,

    The BC Lions still suck.

I haven't worn a winter jacket this Winter yet. A long leather coat (not insulated) has been enough so far, and it was -22 yesterday morning.

I'm with you Bren. Labrador was coldish, Bardufoss was cold. This -15 stuff is kinda easy to take.

Anything around -25 and below isn't fun and you lot in the middle bit, well you have my admiration and sympathy!
