A class of grade eight students in southern Sweden was asked to write essays about their sexual fantasies and experiences for a school assignment.

A teacher from the school expressed surprise that the assignment had upset parents, claiming that most students appreciated the exercise, which was part of a cooperative effort between the biology, sex and well being, and Swedish-language departments.

    Just wow.

    Lefties without borders.

Sounds like something OPP would be into. :)

I can see this as possibly being a work for higher grades for an advanced literature course but 14 year olds? :?

The age of consent in Sweden is 15 so what legal liability would the students have disclosing their sexual encounters if presented as a true story?

Methinks the teach would be singing a different tune if a student wrote an essay detailing her first time with said teacher and as per the instructions presented it as a factual experience. Ohhh that would be an epic backfire.

Back in 1997 several school districts in the State of California, under the guise of 'progressive education', had the following book as required reading for freshmen English students:

    http://books.google.com/books?id=btaXCk ... &q&f=false

This was only put to end when a parent in Santee (near San Diego) was arrested for reading from the book at a school board meeting and the State Attorney General ended up calling the book an obscenity and he threatened to prosecute anyone who presented this material to children.

All that to say that this kind of thing is nothing new and it's just another battle in the War on Childhood. For some odd reason, there's a lot of people who just can't bear the notion of innocence in children.

Don't forget however that the reverse is just as bad and exceedingly more prevalent, ie the complete lack of sex education that right wingers push. Its no secret that the worst states for sex education seem to have the highest rates of teen pregnancies.

We should also be cognizant that Europeans are far more relaxed about this sort of thing and don't go apeshit because of a few bare breasts on TV. We might find this a tad much but then again, its their society and they might not.

Writing an essay on your first sexual experience is a tad personal, don't you agree?
I think it is more the personal touch of this essay than anything else that is causing the commotion.

Sure. Its a tad personal for fully grown adults let alone 14 YOs. The instructions did give many options including "lie" and "what would you like it to be like".

Quite frankly I doubt any of them would be writing truthfully about their first. A few might post stories like the "true stories" Penthouse forum prints.

"I answered a knock at the door and these 2 beautiful coeds needed help their car ......" That happens to me all the time! :P

Anybody else notice that the first link within the link is:

Swedish schools run by convicted paedophile

So if their due dillegence when hiring staff is that lacking, maybe it's not a stretch to assume that this is just another fucked up teacher with ulterior motives that shouldn't be near kids little own teaching them. 8O
