Looks to me like they're having fun. Doubt if their beliefs are any more wackjob than what your average Christian has to buy into, and they seem to throw better parties.

They likely have as much in common with the original druids as modern Christianity has in sommon with the original followers and teachings of Christ.

Yep. That's a pretty accurate summation.

One of the most popular beliefs was that Stonehenge was built by the Druids. These high priests of the Celts, constructed it for sacrificial ceremonies. It was John Aubrey, who first linked Stonehenge to the Druids. Additionally, Dr. William Stukeley, another Stonehenge antiquary, also claimed the Druids were Stonehenge's builders. Stukeley studied Stonehenge a century later than Aubrey and became so involved in the study of the Druid religion that he himself became one. Through his work he was very instrumental in popularizing the theory that Stonehenge was built by Druids.

Unfortunately researchers have proven this age-old theory linking Stonehenge's construction to the Druids impossible. Through modern radio carbon dating techniques, scientists have discovered that its builders completed Stonehenge over a thousand years before the Celts ever inhabited this region, eliminating Druids from the possibilities.

well whatever neolithic people who lived there, it was more a comment on the neo pagans than the Windmill Hill, Beaker and Wessex peoples. Most of the new age whackos claim to be carrying on the pre Christian religions of Britain, something real historians know very little about due to their oral traditions and lack of a written history..

They left tons of litter. They couldn't give a shite about our pre-Roman religions or traditions. Wankers.

Maybe not... of course that's where the neo comes from in neo-pagan. As long as they aren't hurting anyone I say let them be.

Just like with any other large crowd, litter has to be an expected result.

That's a real shame and invalidates the claims of these people they were there for religious reasons - you don't desecrate sacred sites like this. Britain should do a shaming of these people for the mess they left behind. Maybe it will change behavior next time.
