I was kind of surprised there were polar bears on 'The Rock'. Labrador, I could see it. But the island!?!
Learn something every day. In that part of NL, yup... extreme north-west, close to Labrador. I spent some time around there when I was young and near the Québec/Labrador border just across from NL. Saw a few polar bears, from far away... thankfully.
I'd like to go back but I want to drive from here, straight north, then east along the Trans-Labrador highway, then south to the Québec/Labrador border... 2 118 km, 36 hour drive... a lot of it on dirt roads.

300 lbs for a male bear sounds pretty small. It probably had something wrong with it.

“It seemed like it was killing for the sake of killing. It wasn't hungry.”
