I have 2 friends that are EMTs, and one has had 2 of his colleagues commit suicide in the past year.

This is not how we treat our first responders.

Down here myself and a number of other people have refused PTSD treatment for the reason that if you seek out or accept treatment you can end up losing your job, having your firearms seized, and then having a law enforcement flag created that can cause you to get shot for a simple traffic stop.

Screw that. I'll just take my issues to Dr. Johnny Walker.

Canada isn't as user-friendly as our myth-making and other forms of propaganda tend to make us out to be. Ask Shep and his $1500 per eyeball injections as to how much help our loving and caring medical safety net is going to be for him. Canada is like the Windows Vista Edition of countries. They say it's all easy and whatnot to use and navigate but then you make the mistake of turning the damn thing on and quickly find out otherwise. :|

Likewise many parts of the USA.

People think California is some sort of magical Disneyland but then they get here and find out that it's just a somewhat mellower version of Detroit.

That's just fucked up. We shouldn't be punishing the people we count on to pick up our guts off the pavement. (or fight for our country, or stop the crazy person with a knife . . )

R=UP That's what we do. "Alberta Premium" Rye tonic and elixir. (pretty good for the 'cheap' stuff!)

Nationalism and other forms of group pride can't exist without myths and other forms of propaganda. Canada and the US are for the most part great places. The deification of a lot of stuff in both countries really goes too far though. Nowhere will Utopia be found in anything created by any people anywhere, and anyone without their blinders on should be honest enough to admit it.

Hoping to make Pismo Beach again this year. If the dollar doesn't keep tanking. Love California.

Pismo is nice! Be sure to check out Solvang just for lulz, and find a decent BBQ place in Santa Maria for tri-tip...

There's a burgeoning wine industry in the region and Santa Barbara is nearby in case you'd like a taste of Los Angeles without the smog, crowds, and the legions of homeless.
