I guess his purpose of selling out the PC party has been served now. I wonder if the revelation that Harper was the one that dropped a dime on his infamous helicopter pick up at a resort has anythign to do with this? :)

Seems to have been a sudden change of heart, since he had already filed nomination papers. Wonder what's up?

Talking heads have also pointed out that rumours like 1 percent cut in GST and discussing voluntary CPP contribution increase (seems very poorly thought out) might indicate a certain...desperation? Political parties have far better poll information than the media/public does, eg the confidence of the BC Liberals in what looked like a slam dunk for the NDP. Maybe the Cons know something we don't.

What's that saying about rats and sinking ships? Where's John Baird, btw?

I want to see you kiss him...buh bye. I've got my white towel ready. Of course just like the Canucks fans, there may be disappointment waiting ahead.

I met him in Afghanistan actually. Engaged him in conversation. He was quite garrulous. He was in the middle of explaining his motives for the Reform Alliance to me and a couple of other big lads when I said "Shut up, Mackay. You are a small man and nothing you say will ever matter." True story.

    True story.

Didn't McKay know his wife was pregnant when Harper asked all mps to declare whether they were going to run or not? How about when McKay handed in his nomination papers - didn't think family was important then?

Probably seeing the writing on the wall for the next election, just like John Baird did, which is as good a reason as any for getting out before the beating occurs.

I implore all the board lefties to vote Liberal. JT might be a lightweight but Mulcair's a fucking fanatic. If you're going to replace the lacklustre Harper with someone at least choose the one most likely to cause the least damage. Trudeau might learn on the job and stick to the traditional Liberal center/left path, but the Quebec supremacists in the Dippers that Mulcair leads will go nuclear with all their crazy ideological bullshit from the get-go if they're elected.

Mulcair's an opportunist, not a fanatic. After leaving the provincial Liberals in Quebec, he contemplated joining the federal Conservatives and the Liberals both, before settling on Happy Jack.
