A Muslim chaplain said she was the subject of discrimination after a United Airlines flight attendant refused to give her an unopened can of pop because it could be used "as a weapon."

So, no one ever bounced a can off your head ?

Too bad, you would probably benefit from it.

Flight attendants always open the can for you, they don't open the little plastic bottle
    of whiskey though.

More shitesting, I guess the muslims have moved from " We are all about peace and love and tolerance",

to "We are an oppressed minority who need special protections and you must change for us."

    More to come.

Nothing to see here. It's not discrimination if it's against a Muslim. They're the new untermensch after all.

Even on CBC, the most popular comments are saying that this is more about being an attention whore than being the victim of discrimination.

Oh, well, that validates that idea. We all know that CBC comments are an accurate assessment of the truth of a situation.

And of course andy immediately takes the word of the poor soul, ya know, despite the fact that opening the beverage can before they hand it to you has been airline policy since before the days of 9/11.
I don't believe for one second that the conversation that's said to have taken place actually took place.

This sure as hell wouldn't be the first time a Muslim made false claims of racism or religious intolerance.

    R=UP

Guys like andy don't believe a word said by any authority figure, but anything that comes out of a muslims mouth MUST be 100% true because they would never make anything up.

United is a gong show. I witnessed a fight attendant getting frustrated with an Asian group who would not stop standing up on decent (frustrating I agree) say to them "I don't know why you people just don't go back to where you came from."

At any rate, more to the story. Let me get this straight, they don't wan to hand out unopened cans as they can be used a blunt object weapons yet they still give people the cans which can be torn into a sharp edged slicing weapon, like the carpet knives they don't allow? Think it's nota big threat and not dangerous? Well we stopped selling inmates cans of pop due to the amount of slashing and throat cutting being done. I'd rather deal with someone swinging a can of coke than someone slashing at me with a thin sharp edge of a torn one.

Who does their security on flights? Have these people ever done anything security related? Seems not. From entering the airport to landing in the next its constant face palm mode seeing all the silly loopholes and dumb security focuses. No full pop can but if I wanted to bring a 5 pound rock in my carry on it would be ok. Nevermind I can buy a bottle of coke in the security area and walk it onto the plane.

Lame measures to give the public a false sense of security. We are just lucky terrorists are mostly all too stupid to know the easy ways to screw with us.

I'm guessing United Airline's policy is to open up all beverage cans, alcoholic or not, before serving them.

I see to possible scenarios that happened; either the flight attendant forgot to open the beer can immediately, or this woman asked her question before the flight attendant had a chance to open the beer can.
