    Well done to the Syrian Army. Aren't these the same guys that the news media vilified and Obama tried to destroy 5 years ago?

    Now they're singing their praises. Strange how things change so quickly. Especially when eclipsed by an evil as depraved as ISIS.

    With the current political negotiations about the future of Syria's broken politics making slow headway in Geneva, President Assad will no doubt use the advance in Palmyra to strengthen his argument that he is the only player in Syria that is truly "fighting terrorism", and that he must be allowed to stay in order to finish the job properly.
    This is a difficult argument to stomach, particularly for Western nations who have repeatedly stated that the president must leave power, and especially for the Gulf States who heavily back opposition groups fighting him, and who believe that IS's continued strength is drawn from its position as a protector of the Sunnis from the oppression of President Assad and Iran.
    is singing their praises. That's more you. But barrel bombs and chemical weapons are pretty nasty even when used by people you favor.

    I think maybe FOG is mixing up the Syrian army with the Free Syrian Army.

    As I understand it FSA were originally SA, but they defected and fought against Assad.

    However FSA were also known to join with the Kurds and fight ISIS. In fact they were having success when the Russians appeared and started bombing them for Assad.

    So FSA was taking out ISIS, but then SA and the Russians appeared attacking first FSA then ISIS. So as far as ISIS goes the SA are giving with one hand and taking back with the other.

    Sorry to burst your bubble but it was Assad's troops that took Palmyra not the FSA.

    And as for the media. If this was 5 years ago we'd be hearing what a bunch of degenerate assholes the Syrian Army was but, now that it's "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" scenario these same people are applauding the removal of ISIS and liberation of Palmyra by the people they were calling animals just a few short years ago.

    Isn't politics grand. :roll:
