That's the problem. These "best" examples you came up with, and you are excusing their sensationalist words by acting like they barely said anything wrong. NOOO...by "best examples" I mean most representative of the problem. Olbermann is supposed to be the O'reilly of the left-w...

No, you asked me why I didn't have examples of left-wing sensationalists. Olbermann and Maddow are really the only two. No veil here.

Those are your choices in America, Glenn Beck or Olbermann...Maddow or O'reilly. Not a rational person in sight.

Right, these are the best examples of left-wing sensationalism I could find, which is why this thread is about "what's wrong with America" and not "what's wrong with the conservatives". Still a far cry from "death panels" though.

Well, here are the best examples I could find from the American political left: - A claim from Olbermann that the right winger like Palin and Glenn Beck are inciting people people to violence and that there is no difference between their mobs of supporters who hang people in effigy and the real lync...

Add to that Identity Politics. That is the practise of singling out a specific group of people to blame for all of society's ills for scorn by the rest of society: immigrants, public employees, unionized workers, even CEO's. Thus, if you're a white-collar banker, you will say other workers are "...

In the UK a number of police officers are wearing a small badge of the Union Jack to support the troops in Afghanistan. Unbelievably some politicians are telling them to remove them saying, "it offends Muslims". A UK police offer is told that they should remove a union jack on his ...

I find it disingenuous that you bias yourself immediately when you describe the 2 sides. How do you expect to get a fair and neutral debate when you immediately color the other side as ridiculous and ludicrous. This is a complex problem and won't be solved by political entertainers competing for ra...

A pet deer!!! In the house!!!! That is awesome! :D

Why do some ppl always have to piss on other people's parade? "wild animals are not to be kept in the home" is the only excuse the authorities give. Says who? Come up with a better reason or fuck off.

It is one thing to have a country that is a little more to the left or the right than ours, but the problem with the US is not that. The problem with the US is that the political debate and discussion that takes place in that country is a ill, perhaps termnally ill. In the US news media, facts on is...

So under the current system, anyone who participated in or supported the mission to Afghanistan got the SWASM even if they were deployed to Tampa, Florida. If they were on the ground in Afghanistan for at least 30 days, they got an Afghanistan bar to add to it, even if they were a mechanic or a cook...

Rae...And to Mr. Harris's credit, he DID tell us things were going to be rough....McSquitny Well, its the little extra details of the law that reek of right-wing business interests: any adult in the household can legally obligate you to a contract. Failure to pay your ETR tolls means you can't rene...

North America is naturally secure from any invasion. Could Russia drop bombs on it? Yes. China doesn't have long-range ("strategic") military capability YET although they now seem interested in developing it. I think we have to approach this from the idea of the US vs Russia or China in a ...

Also, they can file an appeal through the Ontario Energy board if they think there has been legal wrong-doing, such as misrepresentation or non-compliance with regulations. Check out how many of their consumer inquiries are related to retailer contracts! http://www.oeb.gov.on.ca/...

Usually with electricity and from my experience with door-knockers from DE, Enbridge and the like (there are a few of these guys out there now) is that they convince you to lock in with them for 5 years at a higher price than what you're currently paying, based on their insistence that market rates ...
