My understanding of the whole Harper vs the Ottawa Press corps is that PM Harper wants to do what former PM Martin did during the election. Not have pre-approved questions, but for all reporters wishing to ask a question to be put on a list. If you want to be on the list, you will be on the list. Th... |

The federal government had to cut taxes. The Tories campaigned on cutting taxes so it would have been political suicide if they didn't do it in this budget. As far as military spending, the government also campaigned on upping this as well. Military spending was decimated under the Liberals. Canada ... |

This is insanity to allow weapons in schools. Dull, sharp, who cares? Scissors sharper? Probably, but are kids walking around with concealed scissors? And if they were would you think it was okay? I'm sick and tired of newcomers to Canada complaining that Canada won't accept them and then get their ... |

It makes sense the NDP would make the complaint because it makes sense for them politically. They are hoping the electorate has no appetite to re-elect David Emerson as a Tory and instead choose the candidate who placed second to Emerson in consecutive elections. That person being NDP candidate Ian ... |

I was reading this thread and decided before reacting, I'd go and find out what this book truly is about, and I found this: Description : Deborah Ellis, author of the bestselling Parvana books, brings us the voices of Palestinian and Israeli children in this non-fiction exploration of the effects of... |

I think we may still be talking about it because it stinks of discrimination. This was not a case where a doctor was out seeing war vets or anything like that. If the doctor was in a special place to treat veterans I'd be all over her saying "What's your problem? Can't you wait? Or go to a clinic li... |

I remember something my grade 12 history teacher said. It was, "The rights of the minorities must be protected at all times as long as those rights do not infringe on the rights of the majority." I wonder if this still holds true? It's the other way around actually..... And she was not refused serv... |

I don't see anything wrong with offering services to a select language group if the demand is there. If there is a sizable Chinese population and a Mandarin speaking doctor sets up shop and lets it be known that he speaks Mandarin, that is a good thing for those people who are Mandarin speakers and ... |

I live in BC, and here you can get what is called a BC ID. It is issued at the Motor Vehicle Branch. It looks almost identical to a BC driver's license, with a photo, except it says BC ID instead of BCDL. So, if you don't drive you can still have a valid picture id. I think it should be possible for... |

I don't know if you need to arm every single border guard or not, but there definitly should be armed patrols and pursuit vehicles near the border crossings. Currently it is the mandate of the RCMP to deal with criminals. The problem is that in many border crossings, the RCMP station is not so close... |

Harper is not the PM yet, and his party is not the government yet. There will be a transition period of about 2 weeks. The GST reduction is immediate, but only immediately after forming government. There is a process that has to take place. You don't win an election and assume office that very secon... |

I agree 100% that it is time for proportional representation in Canada. The proposed BC-STV in the last BC provincial election, in my opinion, is a great system for an election. Too bad the promotion and explanation of the system was piss poor. FPTP is the easiest to understand. One with the most vo... |

If Edmonton Centre is really this messed up, any results from this riding should be considered void and an immediate by-election called with a corrected voters list. I don't see any other way to handle a situation like this with chances of people voting more than once and others voting in a riding i... |

I am asking this seiously. Regardless if you support the Cons, NDP, Bloc, Green or Libs, can you honestly see the Libs taking a riding from an MP of another party? I can see NDP, Cons, and Bloc taking Liberal seats. I can't see it the other way around. Can anyone here? |

Now to the original thread question. I already voted, and it was for the Conservatives. Why? I do like the idea of cutting the GST. More money in my pocket is a good thing in my opinion. More money in everyone's pocket is better for the economy. I like Harper's defence policy. I have thought for yea... |
