Harper does understand the issues in Quebec, or maybe he just had aides who do. Nevertheless I was really excited to hear the way he was speaking and filled with hope that we may still have a country in 5 years. Maybe that has to do with him being a westerner, and knowing western alienation is inde... |

Just was on the Elections Canada web site, and found this: Party name on the ballot One of the traditional benefits of registered status for a political party is that the party's name may appear on the ballot, together with the name of the party's candidate in that electoral district. If a candidate... |

I've been reading this forum, and I got called out for bullshit. I'm only going to say I'm not lying. The ballot I used had the party names spelled out in full. However, I may take back my original call of bullshit against the original poster. The actual ballot may be decided by the riding associati... |

So I was talking with a few people last night who had gone over the weekend to cast their ballots. A couple of them had said they intended to vote for Harper because they thought the Liberals needed a time out and a couple others were voting for Harper because they're staunch conservatives. So the ... |

I really don't think Harper is a dummy. I don't think this is about giving provinces a blank cheque to spend whatever they want, where ever they want. If he said today how much each province would get, he would end up with every Premier angry with him and probably lose the election. The Premiers hat... |

Do you have semi-private coverage?: ____ Yes ____ No Uh oh. However - Layton's hernia operation was in the mid-90s. Was this form used then as well? Oh dear... this doesn't look good for Mr. Layton. The reason he wouldn't have received a bill was because he was covered by his medical insurance with... |

I disagree that Mr. Layton is a hypocrite at all in this case. He did not pay out of pocket. He went to a facility that is part of the normal medical system. I think anyone bashing him for this is doing so simply for political purposes. If you read the whole article, this clinic was built for return... |

In fairness to Jack Layton, he did go to a clinic that is a not-for-profit clinic. It also was covered by his Ontario health plan. He did not pay to jump ahead of other people. This was private delivery within a public system. I don't think Jack Layton did anything wrong, and did not do anything for... |

He opposes same-sex marriage. So do a lot of people. I personally don't think this is an issue that needs to be re-visited, but I won't call someone who opposes same-sex marriage as a "piece of shit". He's hardly "wacko". Outspoken for sure. There are people of all political stripes opposed to gay m... |

This is really a non-issue at the moment. Sure, a Conservative candidate is CHARGED with a crime. If found guilty, he will be made to step down (if elected). In Canada we are innocent until proven guilty. We may say that "he did it. he was found with a thousand gallons of beer" or whatever. Fact is,... |

OK so why not beef up military presence in seismic areas in stead of cities? I still don't see the logic. Wouldn't it be logical to have help near where people are, instead of out in the middle of nowhere? If there was an earthquake in BC, wouldn't it be more sensible to have people near Vancouver ... |

I don't know much about wheat farming, being a martimer and now living in Vancouver, but I do have a question. If participation in the wheat board is better for farmers as many have stated, wouldn't it be logical that the vast majority of farmers would remain with the wheat board even if participati... |

Was just saying that there was a time that people were afraid of the public school systems being destroyed by private schools. So, a hospital takes more people to operate than a school... so what? What I'm saying is that the fear mongerers were wrong then. Who's to say they aren't wrong again? |

Under Elections Canada rules, inmates will vote with special ballots inside prisons on Jan. 13, 10 days before the general election. They may vote in the riding where they lived before going to prison, in the riding where a relative lives or where they were convicted. So a prisoner can vote in thei... |
