:) Meanwhile, back in the real world. The Tyee has published a story from Heiltsuk community organizer Jess Housty in response to people (both indigenous and non) asking her what Idle No More is all about and how people can get involved. http://thetyee.ca/Life/2013/01/19/Idle-No-More-List/ ..."...

Yes, wiki U, :) Meanwhile More good discussions are happening in Europe, http://www.dw.de/small-farms-crucial-for-food-security-say-ngos/a-16540822 "Incentives for major investment in agriculture are not reducing hunger in the developing world, say non-governmental organizations that monitor fo...

As you seem to think free range is better than confined housing perhaps the following article will inform you of the affect of light on free range birds. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S016815910100209X Notice they included more than one genetic type and also considere...

The point I was replying to was a comment that they are paid to leave land unused, and if they changed that unused land would be destroyed. I was referring to environmental degradation from any number of sources, firstly being the overuse of the land, second is erosion caused by overuse of the land...

I congratulate Chief Spence, she has given the First Nations momentum with the attention she gained through her hunger strike. I'm looking forward to the next steps. I hope an invitation goes out to all the national leaders to be involved in the next stage of the discussion. Obviously there is a lot...

From the comments I made in the earlier quote and examples used I don't see much hope that there is going to be a lot of time spent trying to protect those 99% of Canadian lakes if the Government is willing to cut them loose like this. But as you say, there are other environmental protections. One ...

I notice you missed the opportunity to provide statistics to back up your assertions. Yet we know from extensive studies that light level control cannibalism in chickens. So we can argue improved welfare. I address the feed situation later. You can argue that there is an improvement due to light le...

I know a guy who has gone through three spells of this and was told that no one goes through three sessions. He is a happy man and carries on with his business. Hard to take though and something he is trying with stress reduction and diet to reduce, as well as more medically practiced methods. Good ...

There are increments and then there are increments right? But while the actual break even point and even profits might appear twenty years from now, I don't think we have to worry about there being a single point in time when that is true. As the worlds oil supplies are used those with some left ar...

I'm not sure what you mean by a mouthpiece, or education for that matter. If you visit the Idle No More website though you will find that several of the people who help out there have eduacation in biology, marine ecosystems, environmental reclamation etc. Does that change your mind about it all be...

Wealthy French farmers receive more money through the CAP - which accounts for 40% of the EU's total spending - than the amount of money that poor African farmers receive. Would you say that the reason is a concern for food security? I understand that French farmers are well organized and make them...

You are going to need to go into a lot more depth about what you are calling deterioration, and how setting aside works. The picture you paint is that if they start working this land over there, all the near by land is going to fail. Clearly this isn't going to happen, farmers tend not to be as sho...

Enviromental sustainability, water or air pollution, eco system damage, habitat destruction. For a nation like Germany where this protest happened, those are not real problems with the industry. Europe is basicly fucked when it comes to a natural enviroment, they can't have it, and just about all t...

“The politicians don’t respect enough the environmental issues,” said Moritz Steinbeck, of Young Friends of the Earth. Factory farms disregard animal welfare, and the overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is harming the environment and threatening biodiversity, he said. Could you at least ...

I can't really argue with that except to say that my impression is that development of the oil sands is paced by the development of technology and by the markets, and that lead times for development of the resource to meet projected demand, and ways to move it (i.e. pipelines), are long. Your 20 ye...
