First, you claim that it is scientific fact that all teens are liars, and then classify it as "being assholes" and basing it on this scientific fact. That is what I am interpreting from your message, if this is not what you want to convey, then you may need to reword your responses. From my perspective, 'lying' is a learned behaviour - where do you think your teens learned it from?

Do my teens lie to me? Sure, probably, does it make them an asshole? No. Did I lie as a teen? Sure, probably, but it's in the past and I can't change it. Would I make better choices if I had to make those decisions over again - yeah, probably.

you know what, just re-read what I wrote. If you're still at variance with, well, that's the way it's gonna be.

YOU KNOW WHAT? What is that? Yes, I am still in variance, I don't think you read what I wrote at all.. Where do you think your teens learned it from?

The old saying goes that children sharpen their claws on their parents.
If you didn't teach them good moral judgement early, someone on the TV did.

OK, since you soon won't be able to buy smokes in any store that sells drugs (meaning virtually nowhere) why doesn't the government sell them in liquor stores? That way they have complete monopoly and control over all legal substances. At the same time they could throw in some VLT and lottery terminals. Talk about mafiosa.

:?

Doesn't work outside of ALberta or Quebec unless they lower the drinking age.

why wouldn't it work?

here in NL legal age is 19 which means you can't buy liquor OR cigarettes till that age.

In Ontario, you must be 19 to purchase alcohol or tobacco, but only 18 to sell it.

And 16 to possess it (tobacco, that is). How stupid is that?

What you glossed over is that stores selling PRESCRIPTION drugs will no longer be able to sell cigarettes. How many gas stations sell prescription drugs? Or 7/11s? Or Macs? Last time I checked, none of them did...

This is nothing but more unnecessary alarmism from the anti-government crowd...there will still be plenty of places to buy your death sticks...

What do you mean 16 to possess it? Federal law states that you must be 18 to purchase tobacco products - this includes papers, pipes, etc. Where is it 16?

It's been years since anyone purchased tobacco and tobacco products in a drug store. I could be wrong, but I think since the early 90's.

*EDIT* In Ontario, that is.

I mean exactly what I said. If you are under 16, the police or teachers can confiscate your cigarettes. You have to be 19 to buy them, but you can possess them when you're 16. This also means that parents or other 19 year-olds can buy cigarettes for, and legally supply them to 16, 17 and 18 year olds. None of them, however, are allowed to smoke those cigarettes if they're in a car together!

Seeing as this is started a thread by an Albertan, in the Alberta sub-forum, about an Alberta law, Ontario is totally irrelevant here...

Here's some food for thought;

The Tobacco Act is federal legislation.
