IceOwl IceOwl:
gideon gideon:
Having money is the key to every form of comfort and pleasure in this world.

Funny you should say that, because the places I've been most comfortable have required very little money, if any, to exist, and the places I've been most uncomfortable have cost more money than I'll ever have.

Move there, be happy, make us happy.

hamiltonguyo hamiltonguyo:
what i meant was once your above the poverty line what matters is how you spend your life.

The way that you spend your life depends on how much money you have.

Life is FAR more enjoyable when you are wealthy enough to buy everything you want.

$1:
I doubt you find anyone that finds that their amount of happiness is directly proportional to the amount of money they have...

Oh really? Then why do so many people play the lottery? Why do so many people take risks and start their own businesses? Why are so many people willing to risk prison time for a few extra bucks?

What's the motivation here? How can you miss something this obvious?

Speaking of missing the obvious...

People THINK they'll be happier if only they had a little more money....

Fact is, they won't be. Money can't buy happiness, it can't buy you friends or any of the other things that really matter in life.

tell that to Hef

If you weren't a jobless bum (see earlier posts on the topic) you'd be able to afford to live somewhere nicer, and you'd probably rather enjoy it.

Money does not always make you happy. My rents are faily well off, and trust me, you are not always happy.

IceOwl IceOwl:
If I ever happen to find you lying on street corner, begging for help while you're bleeding to death, I will step over you, and continue walking as if I saw nothing.

And the questions is: what is the definition of a Torontonian?

how is a student a bum? I dare you to go to a large University(I suggest UofT) And yell it at the top of your lungs into a megaphone while walking around campus.

IceOwl IceOwl:
In the end, we will be happier.

When is "the end"?

Is it when I retire with 7+ figures in the bank and you're eating dog food?

Is it on our deathbeds, as you are reflecting on how you spent your life whining about the rich on internet bulletin boards?

Is it tomorrow when I'm driving my brand new X5 to work and you're sitting in a dirty city bus next to a homeless guy?

I just don't see an upside for you, pal. Until you lose that attitude you will remain miserable.

I will say my two sents on this then shut up ok?

If you are doing what you love and you make little money you will be happier then if you are doing something you hate and making lots of it. IceOwl is going to go on and do something he loves. That is all that matters. It is not about the money, it is about the passion of your profession. Look at firefighters, Cops, doctors, Soldiers, teachers, vets, archeology, historian. They all make vastly different amount of money, but they are happy because they are doing what they want to do. Like I said, that is all that matters. Ok my sappy speech is done, go back to flaming
