It’s great, this thread has turned into a debate between the people that play hard, work hard and pay their taxes verses the people that are entitled to their entitlements. And we all know how that plays out.

Yep. We pay, they play.

First off, all that time spent in the military was paid for by the taxes of hard working liberals who don't like that a large part of their taxes goes to fund US agression around the world. They don't mind them going to social programs and have every right to be mad at conservatives picking their poket to fund a massive military and oil wars as you have to resent your taxes going to help people.

Second, I been working my whole life just as you have. I held a paper route from the time I was mid 12 and past that worked a number of jobs all through school, including a summer of getting up at 5 am working in the base messes. Sure I got a student loan to put myself through Uni but I have been paying it off for a few years now in good standing.

I'm a liberal and I pay my way and always have. Just as many conservatives have gotten gov't assistance but suddenly when they have money they become vocal conservatives.

No, you'd never have to shoot yourself. I'm sure we can easily find a list of people who'd be happy to perform that service for you.

You don't protect me and never have. If Canada were in any real danger I would respond.

BTW, you missed the point didn't you? You always speak so high and mighty about how your taxes should be spent yet when it comes to someone else who thinks their taxes shouldn't go to funding US wars suddenly its not their choice.

This discussion reminds me of an old story that was on the net...

Every night, 10 men met at a restaurant for dinner. At the end of the meal, the bill would arrive. They owed $100 for the food that they shared.

Every night they lined up in the same order at the cash register. The first four men paid nothing at all. The fifth, grumbling about the unfairness of the situation, paid $1. The sixth man, feeling very generous, paid $3. The next three men paid $7, $12 and $18, respectively.

The last man was required to pay the remaining balance, $59. He realized that he was forced to pay for not only his own meal but the unpaid balance left by the first five men.

The 10 men were quite settled into their routine when the restaurant threw them into chaos by announcing that it was cutting its prices.

Now dinner for the 10 men would only cost $80. This clearly would not affect the first four men. They still ate for free. The fifth and sixth men both claimed their piece of the $20 right away. The fifth decided to forgo his $1 contribution. The sixth pitched in $2. The seventh man deducted $2 from his usual payment and paid $5. The eighth man paid $9. The ninth man paid $12, leaving the last man with a bill of $52.

Outside of the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings, and angry outbursts began to erupt.

The sixth man yelled, "I only got $1 out of the $20, and he got $7," pointing at the last man.

The fifth man joined in. "Yeah! I only got $1 too. It is unfair that he got seven times more than me."

The seventh man cried, "Why should he get $7 back when I only got $2?"

The nine men formed an outraged mob, surrounding the 10th man.

The first four men followed the lead of the others: "We didn't get any of the $20. Where is our share?"

The nine angry men carried the 10th man up to the top of a hill and lynched him.

The next night, the nine remaining men met at the restaurant for dinner.

But when the bill came, there was no one to pay it.

Irrelevant.

I pay taxes, though not as much as some and undestand the very nature of tax cuts as your story explains them. I've heard that before and agree with it.

The points I am making are these:

1) I am a liberal and have worked and paid my way just as you have. A great many liberal do just that.

2) You bitch about the US tax man taking your hard earned coin to fund welfare and/or social programs but have no problem with them going to exorbitant military funding (you were in the military coincedently).

3) You fail to recognize that liberals like Susan Saradon, Tim Robbins, and your buddy Robin Williams (all who paid more taxes last year then the sum total of the money you have ever made) have every right to say that they don't like their taxes going to war-like funding and don't mind it going to social causes.

I bet if you let everybody in the US pick and choose where their tax money went you'd be surprised where it all went. If you can bitch about your taxes going to things you don't like then others can to and if they don't share your view of the world and the role of the US military in US defense as bush is currently leading it then its their right just as much as yours.

Understand?

Actually, I think that would be an excellent idea. Let people designate where their taxes can be spent and then see what people pay for.

That's actually a great idea, Derby. PDT_Armataz_01_37

I'll drop Harper a line and he can relay it to Bush the next time they talk.

Why does Harper and Bush make me think of Brokeback Mountain?

Gay cowboys struggling to find each other? Coincedence?

You don't get it - I don't want to live in some clusterfuck mansion.

No, you just realize you'll never be able to attain it.

I don't care if I'll never be able to attain it, because I don't want it. Idiot.

Yeah sure you don't...

I bet you cringe at the thought of being financially independent like so many of the conservatives in this thread. NOT.

You're a loser, and a bitter one at that. Lighten up. And get a damn job.

Actually they played sheppards. Not even Hollywierd thought they could sell a movie about gay sheppards, so they stuck Stetsons on their heads.
