Hi All!

My first post. In my never ending quest to find Canadian forums, I ran across Canada Kicks Ass. Nice name :)

I spent 12 years in the Militia and finished my military time with a 3 year BE
in the Navy from 2000-2003. I'm 'retired' now.

First post as well for me and how appropraite for it to come in here.

Yes I am currently serving, I joined the Reserves in Dec 1979 in New Brunswick, in Sackville to be exact the 8Th Canadian Hussars a Armoured regiment. A few years later (1983) I took a direct entry into the Regular Forces. In 1984 I was shipped overseas to Lahr for what would be a life changing posting for me in the Royal Canadian Dragoons.

After getting ripped off of a 4 year posting I rotated back to Canada (Gagtown) where I felt that life on the other side of the fence was better in the Air Force. I put in for a remuster in 87 before repatriation to Canada and was excepted into the Aero Engine trade.

After enduring a a 6 month long basic engine course in Boredom (Borden Ont) I was informed that my services were required in 416 Tac fighter Squadron In Cold Lake Alberta in Jan 1989.

To this day I am still posted to Cold Lake, I love it here.

Haven't 'officially' joined the forum yet. Currently a stoker with 22+ years in serving on HMCS St John's. Was over in Faslane with Chicoutimi (probably with SCAPES brother-in-law) Not a pretty site but a hardy bunch of individuals. As one of them told me--be careful what you read during the investigation and who the fingers are pointed at.
Love it, just wish I would quit getting older!!!! I would give anything to start my Navy life over again!!!!!

Talk again soon!!!

I have a very nice "Chesty" pot jug given to me by a good mate who was USMC embassy guard in Addis Ababa. We had fun with the USMC; I see the Brits and the USMC have forged close links since Gulf War One and again in Iraq. I think the way the Brit infantry work compliments the USMC well in an operational theatre. What do you think?

You troops (as in the CF) must be pretty pissed off that the Liberals haven’t deployed DART to the Indian Ocean. I see the yanks have a carrier battle group with the Bootnecks delivering aid.
That’s the way to do it. The military are of great use in these kind of disasters. The UN are as useless as ever. It’s a good job the yanks are there to help out and at least co-ord some assistance. Waiting for Kofi Annan didn’t help people in Rwanda.

Here's to praying for C17's so Canada can deploy it's own troops.
