Don't forget the best band in the world... Matthew Good!

Then there's always:

Gob
Biff naked
Our Lady Peace (I love there older stuff)

Some think Nickelback and Default's good (I'm rather sick of them myself)

.

Talented? Jimmy Rankin, The Hip, Rush, Colin James, Alannis Morrissette to name a few

Colin James, Alannis? I hope you were kidding. To each his own when it comes to musical preferences, but those people you named are/have been done for years.
Our lady peace? That singer may be the most annoying frontman ever...he is horrible!
Biff naked...has she had a hit since spaceman? What was that 8 years ago?

Good music stands the test of time.
I've seen Colin James and Alannis live and they deliver the goods in spades.
You're right about the subjective nature of musical tastes.

I was unaware that inorder for music to be good it had to make the charts. It would explain Britney Spears I guess......

So was I. Guess I might as well just spark up this pile of CDs here then...turns out I only thought I liked it.

I saw Bif Naked in Vancouver once...I feel kind of guilty about that because I never saw her here in her home town. She was good though...great voice, good band behind her, never forgot the words and kept us all entertained for a while. Also, it was loud enough that I didn't have to listen to the incessant chatter of the people I was with.

I've always been impressed with her videos more than her music though...they usually try to carry what the songs say instead of showing her off. It isn't often I like videos more than the music, at least with music I like, so that's a definite compliment.

Concert was GREAT! I am definitly going to see them again if I get the chance. Lot's of energy and they even got a couple ladies from the crowd onstage to dance (which I'll admit would have been worth the price of admission itself). It was a sold out crowd and load enough that I could feel every drumbeat.... my ears didn't stop ringing until the next day. The opening acts where good to (The Waking Eye's and From Fiction) didn't much care for From Fiction (from TO) but The Waking Eye's put on a good show (believe there from Winnipeg).

Who would you say is 'talented' in this country?

Besides the above mentioned? Three Days Grace, Great Big Sea, Sum 41, and Finger 11.

personally, i think billy talent is a kick ass band. i got to see them at the ottawa tulip festival (hooray for granny festivals!) and benjamin ripped a huge plastic tulip, 4x the size of him, of the side of the stage... the stage hands looked kind of scared, because he's this tiny thing wielding a huge plastic tulip...

they're crazy on stage, and their album is great.

I missed out on them when they played at Red's, but their CD is almost always playing in my car. That and the new Sum 41 album, I really like that too.

Personally, the lead singer's voice drives me crazy. Myabe it's the fact that their songs are on the radio every other hour.

If anyone is looking hard for an excellent Canadian band then I would suggest Alexisonfire. Just got hteir latest CD and haven't stopped listening to it for days.

Billy Talent are pretty good. I downloaded their album, and with one or two exceptions, most of thier songs were pretty good. I like 'Prisoners of Today' and "River Below' the most.

Alexisonfire's pretty good too. I heard the second album, but not thefirst one. Was the first any good?
