I wasn't sure if I should post this here, but, what the hell. They aren't a Canadian band (duh!) but yea.
If you don't know who they are then here's the most you'll need to know, they're a German rock/industrial band. They're also the band that is playing at the beginning of the movie XXX.
Anyway, I was just wondering if there is anyone else out there, Canadian or not, that prefers German music to english, or any other foreign music. And if your favourite band happens to be Rammstein, what's your favourite song/s? Mine are Bück Dich and Laichzeit.

Hey Trev , I'd bet my own mother you're aware of the upcoming new album from U2,but I thought I'd mention it anyway.According to Bono, the Edge is gonna really be cut loose on this new disc.I can't wait - It's aboot time we get some really tasty rock music again.I'd also like to take the opportunity to suggest people try the new release from A Perfect Circle - The thirteenth step. No, they aren't Canadian, but it's good quality stuff and I think it appeals to a wide range of tastes.
For those of you who dig RUSH like I do , check out their new DVD : Rush in Rio which is a concert they did in Rio last year - it's gotten very good reviews and contains songs spanning their 30+ year career. For Zepplin fans - Robert plant has a two disc greatest hits compilation coming out Nov. 4th

I agree Canadaka, that hearing music in your own language is nice, but yeah... I just like the German langauge, I am part german, although I can't speak a word of it I don't really have much to say about Canadian bands though, I barly listen to anything but Rammstein

Yeah, I love Rammstein, depending on what mood I'm in. If I'm really angry or whatever, I'll put in their older music from their first two CDs. Their 'newer' CD "Mutter" is although still rock, much more quiet and the lyrics are a ton better and not so vile and obscene as they were always known for. However, with their newer CD, some old fans weren't too fond of the new music since the old fans like the heavy metal. Me, on the other hand... I love the newer stuff a lot more. I'm even more interested in the new works of Torsten Rasch, changing the old Rammstein song "Mein Hertz Brennt" into an orchestra-like work. It's not everyday that someone does something like that with a song by a band like Rammstein. But it's just recently in the past week been publicized and it's very interesting. If you like this band (yes, this will require some German knowledge), you can visit the site of the project by Torsten Rasch at this URL: http://www.mein-herz-brennt.de/ . The site is a bit spooky when it loads up... but you don't really need to know a lot of German to view it. I think it's really good to have foreign bands become popular and tour places like North America, especially the United States, so often oblivious to the fact that other people in this world exist, that there may be better music outside the states, even in Canada... even in another language *gasp!*, that maybe it is good to learn a little bit of another language, let's say... German maybe? The more presence bands like this have in North America, the better people we will become... I'd hope.

Yes, I agree that foreign bands need to make a stronger impression in North America, I used to be naive and think that their was hardly any non-english bands, but that was before I got the internet, and then I started to realize, how big the world is, and how messed up it is...
And also, could you explain what you mean by them being not as vile? I don't know anything of what's being said really, and I have often worried that it may be rather, bad music... Also, the idea of not know what is being said is still pretty cool.

Well, Rammstein hasn't always been the best of bands. Their lyrics in the past have been pretty bad... some not too bad, but some for example, about playing with young boys and such. I'm not gonna say they're realllly bad or whatever, but in any case, it's not exactly considered just good rock music. That has never detered me though. Some of the things they've done on stage haven't exactly been great either... maybe you've seen some photos - and then you can just look at the cover of Sehnsucht. Ermm... But now the lyrics are calmer, the voices more calm and less violent... the pictures less obscene, and overall as a band Rammstein has grown and is a lot more varied in their music talent.

Well, thats changed my veiws on them, but, just my veiws, lol, I still think they're a great band, that is, I think their songs are great... I do know what you mean though, the song Engel on Sehnsucht seems like every other song, but if you listen to the UK version (Which is drastically different, although I'm sure you noticed it was in english ) is all about stripping....

Actually the English version of the songs are incorrect translations! They're similar, but when translated from German to English, they aren't the same at all... but yes, the general idea. It's hard to translate from German to English and still have the words fit with the music. Rammstein is a German-language band and they sound best like that... but they've done a few English songs (and I mean solely composed originally in English - songs like Stripped for example) and those are pretty good They haven't released much of their music in America really, and there at one time on Napster were a lot of songs going around that were titled Rammstein that were actually other bands like Russian band Lubeh and German band "Megaherz" (sounds a bit like Rammstein). Some people are under the impression that if it's rock and it's in German, it's Rammstein... but Germany has some awesome rock bands like Rammstein, and then other bands that are rock that are much different - such as the Guano Apes, who never really took off in the states because of the recording issues there (RIAA can go to hell ) but are popular the world over outside the states...
