I think one of the first things Harper should do after the budget passes because of Liberal abstention is scrap the political wellfare funding. Screw the bloc and those who hang with them.

The new Government is supported by parties that share a commitment to fiscal responsibility, a progressive agenda and a belief in the role of Government to act as a partner with Canadians and Quebecers.

In fact, the Bloc would remain an OPPOSITION party and while Bloc cooperation would be necessary for bill passage this is really no different than Harper's previous minority government's legislative operation.

I guess it's one thing to be ignorant of politics, but it's another thing for people to constantly and consistently misunderstand or misrepresent the issue. Willful ignorance is not a virtue.

On an aside, the budget's gonna' pass as an election or coalition government isn't really in the cards for Igggy.

Our country is divided into 308 federal parts. Each one of these send a representative to Ottawa to represent for their interests. Quebec is no exception. They are allowed their representatives, too.

If you have an issue with the fact that the Bloc Quebecois has so much power, maybe you should look at a way to make it more fair for everyone.

The way to do that, proportional representation.

If we put that in place, there would probably never again be a majority government unless a majority of Canadians opted for one party over the others. Then we would be talking alot about coalition governments, wouldnt we?

Funny how the Tories would lose a hefty ammount of seats should we go to PR, and so none of them want to do anything about it, but when it comes to talking about the Bloc they whine about how they have so much undue power for their popular numbers.

Go to the proportional rep thread - federal-elections-f43/election-reform-in-canada-proportional-representation-t69054.html - as this has already been addressed (as has PR major drawbacks). It is not a better solution.
