I have no doubt that the carriers could probally knock them out of the air before they reach there target. Let's not forget that U.S. Carriers do not travel alone. They travel with other Naval elements like Destroyers, etc who have specific tech and uses to battle all threats that many threaten them. The U.S. Carriers alone have smart defenses such as missles that can take out other missles coming at the carrier. Great Radar, etc. I also am sure that the carriers travel with ships capable of doing the exact same thing and some even capable of doing a better job at it.
With all the different ships and firepower the carriers travel with. I don't see how one missle could get by all that defense. Specificly a missle that these ships have the tech to knock out. Unless this missle is like super-fast than normal missles and can hit it's target before there radar, crew or defense systems even know wtf hit them. I doubt this new missle (if there is one, they got the intel from some blog?) could do the trick against years and years of military research and billions of dollars worth of equipment.
You're thinking of a Carrier Battle Group, usualy comprises of seven or eight ships plus the Carrier including submarines. And they carry more missiles/ bombs/ bullets in that one group than our entire Navy combined.
The only real threat to a carrier is a torpedo fired from very close, but you would still only need one, those ADCAP MK-48s are bad ass. Also to neutralize a carrier all you have to do is damage the flight deck.
